Our Halloween Fun with Party City & Candlelighters NYC

The Halloween season is a time for kids to dress up and have fun. So we joined Party City to learn about their partnership with the nonprofit Candlelighters NYC and how they donate costumes to kids fighting cancer.

During a special in-store event, Party City and Candlelighters NYC hosted a surprise for these families, where they were able to pick from a wall of nearly 3,000 costumes and go trick-or-treating at the 60 ft. long Candy City!

“Halloween is a time for fantasy, and when kids can escape reality, if even for a day,” said Gerry Rittenberg, Executive Chairman of Party City Holdco Inc. “Party City is committed to all children being able to enjoy the excitement of Halloween and I was honored to partner with Candlelighters NYC to provide these deserving kids the chance to dress up.

As a guest of Party City invited to cover the event, I saw first hand how happy the kids (and families) were. The kids proudly wore their costumes while walking around the store and checking out the displays.

We even had a chance to share in their excitement when Party City invited us to also pick a costume and go trick-or-treating on the candy wall!

Since Party City has so many kid costumes to choose from, it took my son a little while to decide. FINALLY he picked a Star Wars Storm Trooper costume. Thankfully we had an in store "expert" there to help him pick and check the stock.

Then we headed to costume pick-up and the in-store dressing room. My son came out dressed and ready to hit the candy wall.


Then my son joined the Candlelighters NYC families to pick various candies to put into their treat buckets.

Thanks to Party City and Candlelighters NYC, the kids were so happy and it was nice to join them in that moment. But this is not their first time doing this. Since 2011, Party City and its customers have raised more than $14 million in donations and fundraising, primarily focused on causes benefiting children, the heart of Party City.

While Party City is ready with everything you need for Halloween fun, the store also offers many more products and services. After the event I took some time to walk around the store and check out the isles.
