With so many movies coming out on Blu-ray and DVD, can you can enjoy Dolby Atmos surround sound technology at home? Yes, with Dolby Atmos-enabled AV Receivers, Blu-Ray players and other Home Theater-in-a-Box systems!

Note: I'm part of Dolby influencer program and will share information about their products. I was invited as media to this event. However any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.

To experience a "Dolby Atmos Home Theater system" in a real life setting, I joined the Dolby Laboratories team for a demo. A demo complete with a comfy couch, movies using Dolby Atmos and a room full of Dolby Atmos enabled sound product.

During the demo I was able to hear and feel the power of Dolby Atmos Home Theater System. It was awesome! I clearly heard all the movie sounds and nuances just like in the theaters, but in the comfort of my demo home!

Just like in the theaters, Dolby Atmos makes sound come alive from all directions - including overhead - with astonishing clarity, power, detail and depth.

What I love about this, is that no matter the size of your entertainment room (or area), with add-on module speakers, a Dolby Atmos-enabled AV Receiver, and a Blu-Ray player, you can easily create a 3D audio experience where sound comes from all directions.

If you have a home entertainment system already, you can add upward-firing speaker on top of traditional speakers to get that overhead movie sound.

Is Dolby Atmos Home Theatre Systems hard to find?

Dolby Atmos is now included in about 40 AVR and Home Theater-in-a-Box systems from many of the leading providers and 15 speaker models have been launched or announced by 10 manufacturers.

• Partners that have released Dolby Atmos AV receivers or pre-processors include Denon, Integra, Marantz, Onkyo, Pioneer, Steinway Lyngdorf, Trinnov Audio, and Yamaha.

• Partners that have released Dolby Atmos enabled speakers and add-on modules include Atlantic Technology, Definitive Technology, KEF, Klipsch, Onkyo, Pioneer USA, Teufel, and Triad Speakers.

• Onkyo has released two Dolby Atmos equipped Home Theater in-a-box (HTIB) systems.

Is Dolby Atmos Home Theater systems are expensive?

Dolby Atmos in the home systems have various price points to fit all budgets! From lowest Dolby Atmos enabled AV Receiver at $479 - making Dolby Atmos more affordable than ever - to premium AV Receivers at $2,999 for those who want to take their home entertaining to the highlst level.

While in LA with the Dolby Laboratories team, I had the opportunity to experience Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime for the first time ever during a movie screening.

Note: Dolby Laboratories invited me on an all expense paid trip to Los Angeles. While I'm part of Dolby influencer program and sharing activities during the trip, any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.

Written by guest writer Christina Chin, who's hip, fashionable and located in New York City.

Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime is a premium cinema experience that combines spectacular image and sound technologies with inspired design and fantastic comfort.

These special enhanced theaters starts with signature entrance, a vivid audio visual pathway that is designed to get moviegoers in to the mindset of the movie they are going to watch.

So how was my first time going to a Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime? I have to say it was one of the best theater going experience for me, and I go to the movies a lot!

There's super comfy reclining seats that you get to reserve ahead of time when you purchase tickets (no worries of getting to the theater late and not finding a good seat or having to split up with friends and family!), the total crystal clear surround sound, and vivid imaging made for a really immersive theater experience.

Basically, it delivers the total cinema experience - super dark theaters in black matte with

• Dolby Vision laser projection for richer, vivid and more dramatic images with enhanced colors and clarity,
• Dolby Atmos sound technology that moves audio around the entire theater in sync with the action to create a more immersive experience
• and last but certainly not least, AMC Prime's power reclining seats with seat transducers that vibrate with the action on screen.

Just a FYI, with the premium experience there's a premium cost to attend (about the same cost as going to an IMAX screening), so it is for those special date nights or special family night out to go and treat yourself to the ultimate movie experience!

Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime is currently available in 8 locations (California, Georgia, Illinois, New York, Texas, Missouri, and Kansas) with more under construction including AMC Century City 15, AMC Willowbrook 24, and AMC Garden State 16.

Due to the positive response from customers, AMC will be expediting their installations and deployment of Dolby Cinema at AMC Prime and is now aiming towards 50 screens by 2016 and 100 screens by 2024!

Movie lovers can enjoy the upcoming "IN THE HEART OF THE SEA" starring Chris Hemsworth, which is the next big Dolby Cinema title to be shown at AMC Empire 25 in NYC!

I can't tell you how excited I was to screen The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies at the Dolby theater, and not just because I'd get to watch more of Luke Evans, who plays Bard the Bowman on screen.

Note: I'm part of Dolby influencer program and will share information and news about their products. However any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.

Thanks Warner Bros. Pictures and Dolby for the invited to an advanced screening, a few days before the movie opened nationwide.

Besides, thanks to the themed The Hobbit: BOFA cupcakes at the screening event, I had my own mini Luke Evens with me.

Since The Hobbit: BOFA was mixed in Dolby Atmos (like the previous two The Hobbit films), I looked forward to watching AND hearing the movie, since Dolby Atmos makes it easy for filmmakers to place or move specific sounds anywhere in the movie theaters, including overhead.

Peter Jackson, director of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films, explains how Dolby Atmos technology was used for "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" in the below video.

The video also including actors, composers, sound mixers, as well as director Peter Jackson talking about how Dolby Atmos technology helped "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" crew shape the action with sounds from the subtle to the spectacular, from snowfalls to swordfights.

If you've seen the first two The Hobbit movies, you know there's LOTS of action and excitement. And this third film provides the same in major degrees. Within the first few minutes the audience is watching the dragon Smaug take his wrath out on the Lake-town people. Have you ever seen and heard an angry dragon? You'll feel like you are while watching the movie in Dolby Atmos. Literally the sound of the dragons flying and fire blasting flowed all around me in the theater!

And then there was the big battle scenes. Again watching the movie in Dolby Atmos made you feel you were RIGHT there watching the battle. Watch out for the Orcs!

The Hobbit: BOFA was an exciting back story end that brought us up to date with how King Thorin Oakenshield succumbs to dragon-sickness, how Bilbo makes a desperate and dangerous choice, and how the threat of Sauron, the Dark Lord and his Orcs caused the races of Dwarves, Elves and Men to be united to go to war in the most amazing way I've seen in a movie (to date).

If you are a fan of The Hobbit series, I highly recommend you hire a sitter (sorry movie is not young kid friendly) and plan a date night with a loved one or friends and see The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies.
