Loog is leveling up guitar learning with its new Pro 6 Acoustic and Pro 6 Electric, built for teens, young adults, and beginner-to-intermediate adult players.
Since its founding in 2011, Loog has offered smaller, three-string models that make learning approachable and fun.

The 2025 redesign elevates the Pro 6 into new territory, with a sleeker body shape, upgraded finishes, and professional-grade materials that meet the expectations of beginner to intermediate adult players while staying true to Loog’s design.
Key Pro 6 Features:
Short-Scale & Lightweight: Compact size, ultra-light build, and ergonomic contours for effortless handling. Improved Playability: Professional-grade string action and intonation. Acoustic & Electric Options: Catering to different playing styles and musical preferences. Nylon Strings on Acoustic Models: Gentler on the fingers, ideal for beginners. All-Wood Construction: Solid tonewoods with a smooth maple neck for rich tone, beautiful sustain, and lasting quality.
The new Loog Pro 6 Acoustic ($169) and Loog Pro 6 Electric ($249) are available at Amazon.

Pinwheel, makers of smartphones for children and teens, now has a smartwatch offering age-appropriate, parent-monitored and voice-activated AI chat (PinwheelGPT).
Designed specifically for safe use by children ages 7-14, the Pinwheel Watch is a solution for parents seeking a way to stay connected with their kids without giving them a phone.
The watch provides parents with GPS tracking and management tools while enabling kids to text and make calls (among parent-approved contacts), and take and share photos.
And – unlike any other kid's smartwatch on the market – Pinwheel Watch offers unlimited access to a voice-activated and parent-monitored AI chat app (PinwheelGPT) that comes pre-loaded on every device.
Pinwheel Watch Features
Calling + Texting
Children can text (using voice commands or a keyboard) and make calls on the Pinwheel Watch – but only with those who parents have approved to add to the "Contact Safelist." Later this year, Pinwheel will enable video calling at parents' discretion on the watch.
Just as with the Pinwheel phone, the Pinwheel Watch enables parents to allow or deny image texting by contact and to remotely monitor a child's text messages and call history.
Apps
The Pinwheel Watch will come pre-loaded with a host of useful features and unique apps, including:
PinwheelGPT - your child can ask a kid-friendly version of ChatGPT questions via voice or text to receive AI-generated responses (moderated for age-appropriate content and viewable to you remotely on the parent dashboard).
Calculator
Alarm + stopwatch
Calendar reminders
Games
Camera
Schedules + Modes
Parents can set schedules for a child's usage of different features, e.g. enabling or disabling calling, texting and/or camera use at certain specified times
Hardware
Bluetooth-compatible
Durable
For families with multiple children of different ages, the Pinwheel Watch enables parents to use the same parent portal to manage watches and phones for multiple kids, and it's easy to move to a phone when it's time. You can copy over contacts and settings and then get $50 off your Pinwheel phone when it's time to upgrade.
The Pinwheel Watch costs $159 + a $14.99/month monthly subscription fee to access the Pinwheel parental management tools and cellular service.
It is available now on Pinwheel site, and will be sold on Amazon later this year.

My teen son loves to draw and is always looking for ways to improve his artwork. So when we learned about the free virtual Wacom Creativity Camp, he was excited to attend the workshops.
Note: I received product samples for review purpose. Any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.
To help him learn to draw in new ways, the Wacom team sent him the Wacom Intuos Drawing Tablet (with Bluetooth), which was compact and saved space but still gave precision for his drawing designs.
While it did come with software, the Wacom Intuos tablet and pen can also be used with any software program to draw, paint, edit photos/videos, create designs, etc. So my son had no problem setting things up via bluetooth and being ready for the Wacom workshops.
During each workshop he learned about a design concept and resource, had practice drawing time applying the lesson and then live discussions about the lesson. There was also QnA moments on various art related topics.
He enjoyed the live interaction and sharing, along with having drawing examples he can learned from. After the workshops there was "homework" and my son could submit his design work for feedback.
The Wacom Creativity Camp workshops helped my son learn how to improve his drawings and the Wacom Intuos Drawing Tablet was a great device for his new skills and ideas.

Wacom Creativity Camp Art Workshops
Wacom Creativity Camp is a free online character design workshop series happening this summer, presented by Wacom in partnership with Best Buy.
Want to create your own original character for comics, manga, anime, video games, an illustrated story, a Dungeons & Dragons campaign, or just for fun – but don’t know where to start? Join Wacom Creativity Camp.
Taught by MCAD professor Lafe Smith, Creativity Camp is perfect for young folks, beginning artists, or anyone else who wants to strengthen their character design skills.
It’s free, and you don’t need any digital art tools to participate – pencil and paper is fine!
During this workshop series, you’ll learn the basics of how to create a character – including finding inspiration, sketching ideas, crafting silhouettes, and creating expressive faces and poses – and will end up with a complete model sheet for your original character!
Throughout, you’ll also get expert feedback and support from a professional artist and art school professor.
Join Creativity Camp live on Zoom on Mondays, July 28 – August 18, 2025, from 3:00-4:30pm PDT!
Wacom Creativity Camp 2025 Trailer
Each session builds on the last, so if you attend every workshop you’ll have a completed character model sheet at the end.
It’s OK if you can’t make it to every session, though – they’ll have recap materials and “homework” to get you caught up, and eventually will publish recordings of the workshops on YouTube.
One more reason to attend live, though: we’ll be giving way Wacom drawing tablets during each session, and only attendees are eligible!

Did you know that Manhattan Fencing Center have trained Olympic medalist coaches available to teach kids from youth (ages 4-6) through teens (13-16)?
To learn more, I took my teen son for a fencing lesson!
Note: I invited as media for a fencing session for review purposes. Views expressed are always 100% my own.
We met with Saber Coach Serge Shachanin, who took my teen son into Manhattan Fencing Center sports floor for a mini personal lesson.
During the lesson my son learned how to properly pick and wear the fencing equipment, basic footwork and how to stand and move, then about how to pick a blade.
Then it was time for him to put everything into action. Serge engaged my son with back and forth fencing and blocking. While my son was nervous at first, Serge correction and encouragements' help my son gain confidence and put more action into his movements.
After the lesson, both my son and I was excited with what he learned in such a short time. We both agreed that long term lessons would be very cool.
While it's recommended that kids start fencing lesson while younger, even teens starting now can benefit from learning to fence with some extra coaching and effort.
Fencing can help kids develop good sportsmanship, instill self-discipline, achieve healthy body, get accepted to top universities and so much more.
Manhattan Fencing Center
Manhattan Fencing Center offers classes (and camp) for musketeers (ages 4-6), youth (7-12), teens (13-16), competitive and elite.
Clinics and camps are taught by elite coaching team consisting of National, International and Olympic coaches. Camps are offered for students age 5 and up of all ability levels. Camps are divided by weapon, age, experience and USFA rating.
Their classes are unique in that they are broken up by both age and skill, unlike most other fencing clubs where kids are grouped together all in one big class.
They offer small classes and extra personalized attention to fencers which results in the #1 saber rating in the country so far and top college placements.
Manhattan Fencing Center is known for its trained Olympic medalist coaches in foil and saber for children and adults.
Before they head off to the 2024 Olympics, all qualifiers, Elizabeth Tartakovsky, Feres Ferjani, Pascaul Di Tella, Colin Heathcock, and Maia Chamberlain were trained by MFC Founder, Yury Gelman and coach, Vladimir Lukashenko.
Manhattan Fencing Center has two locations, one in NYC and one recently opened in newest location in Englewood, NJ.

Do you have a teen who's a fan of anime? Then they'll enjoy Kess Co and de.bored range of puzzles and games.
Note: I received product samples for review purpose. Any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.
After receiving the Haikyu!! 300 pc puzzle, my teen son and I spent some time putting together and really enjoyed it.
Since my son watched the anime and plays sports, this was a great puzzle for family game night. While it was a 300 piece puzzle, the puzzle size were large enough for us to find and use to complete the puzzle. We're not fans of tiny puzzle pieces.
Another thing we liked was that the puzzle pieces were large and firm, so we both could work on it. We each puzzled within certain areas, without getting in the others way.
Ironically at a certain point, my teen decided he wanted the glory of finishing the puzzle alone for bragging rights.
We enjoyed this puzzle and now we're exciting to try other anime themed puzzles.
Kess Puzzles and Games
During Toy Fair, I visited the Kess Co booth for a preview of current and upcoming puzzles and games, and here are a few of my favorites
The puzzles included current anime series like Jujutsu Kaisen, Spy-x-Family and De.Bored Original Art
The board and card games included Spy-x-Family: Mission for Peanuts, Murder We Wrote, Street Fighter V The Board Game

These days most tweens and teens have a smartphone to keep connected with family and friends. But for some families adding more devices on some service plans can become complicated and pricey.
Note: I received a product service for review purposes. Views expressed are always 100% my own.
For families looking for a more flexible and affordable option, there's TextNow, a free cellular and WiFi-enabled phone service that doesn’t rely on a plan or contract, which means you could save the approx $120.00 a phone plan costs.
To use the TextNow you'll need to purchase a TextNow activation kit ($0.99), which comes with a SIM card that gives unlocked Android or iPhone devices access to their unlimited nationwide talk and text service for $0/month.
To try out the service, I received an activation kit to use with my own Android phones. Then I simply changed the SIM card, downloaded the app, followed the prompts and started the free service.
Here a few things you need to be aware of
You need to already have your own phone unlocked. TextNow does not provide phones
You can use your own phone number or pick a new TextNow number for free.
The free service is ad supported. But there is low cost plans ($9.99/month) you can pay for to remove ads.
There is no data with the free service. But there is various low cost data plans you can pay for ranging from $8.99 - $28/month
Since I only used the service for texting and phone calls, I think overall the service does what it says.
I was able to get a new phone number for my teen son, we texted and called back and forth without needing WiFi service and there's no big phonebill at the end of the month.
For families looking for low cost service for the tween and tween texting and phone needs, it's a great option.

It's once again that time to prep for back-to-school. But during this time some might have jitters about starting a new school year, including kids, teens, and even parents.
Returning to middle, high school or even starting a new school, as a teen can be both exciting and challenging at the same time. It's during this time that social interactions with peers play such an important part of a teen's life.
Additionally, there is the pressure of preparing oneself to apply to college that is always looming in the back of a teen's mind.
To help families, I'm sharing a few tips from Josephine Atluri, host of the podcast Responding to Life, and the author of Mindfulness Journal for Parents: Prompts and Practices to Stay Calm, Present and Connected (Rockridge Press, July 13, 2021).
Mindfulness Journal Parents Book Trailer Josephine Atluri
Josephine's tips can help parents and teens manage their back-to-school anxieties, and provide some simple techniques she teachers her own school age kids.
3 Tips for Back-to-School Jitters for Teens (and Parents)
Create a safe space
Make it known to your teen that you are always there for them whenever they need to be a listening ear offering advice when needed if at all. Teens tend to come to you at times that are convenient for them but not necessarily for you.
So while they adopt the understanding that they can come to you as a safe space, as a parent, it would be beneficial to remember the concept of dropping everything to listen. This tactic reinforces the idea that your teens' feelings and needs are valued and supported in your household.
Mindset shifts
Help your teen remember how amazing they are before school starts. Just like you would gather school supplies for your little children, gather words of affirmation, positivity, encouragement for your teen to keep at the ready for whenever they start to doubt themselves or fall prey to the harshness of other teens.
Model calming techniques
Your teens can these techniques at their discretion to navigate stressful situations at school. For example, breathing techniques like the square breath (4 seconds inhale, 4 seconds hold, 4 seconds exhale, 4 seconds hold, repeat) or an extended exhale (inhale 4 seconds, exhale for 8 seconds).
Another technique to model is positive self-talk or taking time outs when you feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or anxious.
Hopefully these tips help your teen feel supported, calm, and confident as they begin another school year.

Most parents with a teen can relate to having a moody child. That's just how this stage is for a lot of us. While as parents we understand this, we still want to keep connected with our "kids" as they grow towards adulthood.
Note: I received product samples for review purpose. Any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.
One way I found that works for me and my son is using humor. So when I first saw The Grumpy Octopus, I immediately started smiling and welcomed one into our home.
At first my son didn't understand why I wanted to have a plush octopus, but after a few days he learned. I tasked my Grumpy Octopus with keeping my son company and providing support....and also some humor for me.
So our Grumpy Octopus....
.....helped my son get dressed for school in the morning
.....helped my son with his homework
......helped my son with his science experiments
While The Grumpy Octopus looks like he wants to be left alone.....kinda like my teen son....what I think he really wants is some understanding....and an activity! Which I was happy to provide.
The result was my teen son started to be in a lighter mood. Moments in his day weren't always so serious. We could share a laugh over whatever activity our Grumpy Octopus did that day. Which easily led to a continued convo about other things that happened that day.
Connecting with teen isn't always straight forward or easy. But with a little creativity and maybe a Grumpy Octopus, teens and their parents can find new ways to communicate and share a laugh.
About The Grumpy Octopus
This 12-inch sourpuss octopus is an incredibly soft and huggable plushie, which provides a skin-friendly, comfortable cuddly feel for adults, kids, babies, and pets. Made from the highest-quality velboa, it measures 12" x 8" x 7.5".
Created by San Diegan Amr Ahmed, who was inspired to design a stuffed animal his little sister would love that was not commonplace. So he made the Grumpy Octopus and likened it to the iPhone's octopus emoji.
He also paid homage to the love of grumpy characters - Oscar the Grouch, Squidward, Grumpy the dwarf from Snow White, Diego the saber-tooth tiger from Ice Age, Ron Swanson from Parks and Rec, and the infamous Grumpy Cat!
The Grumpy Octopus is available on Amazon for $39.28.

The start of Fall means changes to our sleep schedule. Whether for back to school or the seasonal time change, making sure we get enough sleep is key to our well being. Especially for kids and teens, who try to delay sleep as long as possible.
To help kids and teens develop better sleep habits, here are a few solutions + tips.
Sleep Tips for Kids and Teen Students
Instead of scrolling through social media, listen to soothing music or do other relaxing activities to wind down at night. This will signal to your mind and body that it’s time to rest.
Avoid bright light exposure at night, especially blue light. Electronic screens emit blue light, which affects your internal clock. Use blue light filters or invest in a pair of effective blue light blocking glasses like Swannies.
Keep a consistent bedtime. It’s not always easy but do your best to get in the habit of going to bed at the same time every night, at least 8 hours before your regular wake-up time.
In the morning, expose yourself to daylight. Try combining this with physical activity, like taking a walk in the sunshine, to feel more alert during the day and sleep better at night.
Exercise does wonders for your health and mood, but for the sake of your sleep try to avoid exercising late in the evening. Being active will arouse your body, when you should be winding down.
Keep in mind that caffeine takes hours to leave your body. To prevent caffeine from interfering with your sleep, stop consuming it by 2pm or use non-caffeine tea.
Eating close to bedtime keeps your body busy digesting food, which can disrupt your sleep. If you really want a bedtime snack, keep it small.
Use the SleepScore App to become aware of your own sleep patterns and get personalized recommendations for improving your sleep.
Another tip to consider is possibly delaying the school starting time.
According to an article on the SleepScore website:
The Latest Sleep Research: Delayed School Start Times and the Impact on Children and Teens
www.sleepscore.com/blog/later-school-start-times-and-the-impact-on-children-and-teens
Chronic sleep deprivation is a critical threat to the mental and physical development, academic potential, and safety of children worldwide. Delaying school start times (no earlier than 8:30 AM) has been identified as an essential modifiable public policy that can improve childhood learning, development, and health and wellness.
By requiring students to go to sleep early and wake up early for school, we are placing them in a perpetual “social jet lag”’ – teens’ internal clocks do not match up with their social time.
Teens will often fall asleep late (1 AM) and wake up early (6 AM), thereby restricting their total sleep time and worsening their sleep deprivation. Since teens require at least 8-9 hours of sleep a night, there are cascading mental and physical consequences to this social jet lag.
With less than 20% of schools starting at 8:30 AM or later, recent research looked at the feasibility and effectiveness of delaying school start times to improve sleep in adolescents and children.

In January, children (and families) can get moving during the Ailey Extension Winter/Spring Kids & Teens Sunday Dance series. This Dance series is designed to help children get moving and learn the healthy habit of exercising at an early age while having fun.
photo credit: Teen Broadway Jazz at Ailey Extension. Photo by Kyle Froman
The Ailey Extension 16-week session runs Sundays from January 12 – May 10 and offers movement classes for 2-year-old children and their parents; hip hop classes for school-age kids; and ballet, jazz and hip hop courses for teenagers.
Parents/caregivers can join their 2-year-olds at Tiny Steps and encourage toddlers as they develop body awareness and practice creative movement while grade school children who love to move can practice confidence as they learn the fundamentals of hip hop with their age group and meet new friends.
Small children ages 5-7 will exercise basic body isolations, vocabulary, performance quality, and choreography in Hip Hop Moves;
While kids ages 8-11 can focus on the most popular dance moves of the day as they develop coordination and precision while building self-esteem in Hip Hop 4 Kids.
Teens can explore different dance techniques and sharpen their skills in a judgment-free zone as they practice hip-hop, ballet, and/or jazz.
Teen Hip Hop allows teens to learn classic party dance moves and the urban style of dance featured in today’s popular music culture.
Teen Ballet creates an encouraging environment for students to develop technique, flexibility and coordination through combinations.
Teen Broadway Jazz lets students explore the rich diversity of Broadway and the styles of jazz in a welcoming high energy class.
Kids & Teens Sunday Dance Series is open to children of all genders and experience levels. Each class takes into consideration the abilities of the age group to curate an environment that fosters learning skills, boosting confidence and socializing with peers while being taught by the city’s top instructors at The Joan Weill Center for Dance – home of the world-renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ailey II, and The Ailey School.
In addition to the Kids Sunday Dance Series, Ailey Extension offers more than 90 weekly classes for adults in over 25 different dance and fitness techniques, including ballet, jazz, Dunham, Zumba, West African, Salsa, Pilates, Masala Bhangra, and many more.

I was recently invited by Mom Central and Oxy to celebrate the launch of OXY Clinical.
Note: I attended a Moms Night Out at STK courtesy of Mom Central and Oxy and received product samples and a gift card as a thank you for my participation. All opinions regarding the products are expressly my own experiences
During the event I signed up for a mini makeover and to have professional photograpahs taken of me so I can update my facebook profile. As I'm sure you know having great photos is key for being noticed in any social networking community.
During my prep for the photo shoot I talked with Lynn and her daughter Emily the, OXY Clinical mom/daughter spokesperson, about why they used the OXY Clinical line.
Emily shared that her acne and it's breakout length was an issue that prevented her from being a regular teen. As a mother Lynn explained she wanted to help her daughter find a way to feel confident while doing normal teen things. OXY Clinical gave them the results they needed quickly and without major changes to their lives.
I also spoke with Dr. Erin M. Welch, a board-certified dermatologist. In addition to serving as spokesperson for OXY® Clinical, Dr. Welch serves as a scientific advisor to sunscreen manufacturers and is the author of several scientific papers and medical textbook chapters on dermatologic subjects. So she knows skin care!
Did you know acne most likely occurs between the ages of 12-24? Learning to properly manage and treat acne at the early stages helps prevent long term issues like permanent scarring. For teens that need a way to manage their acne the OXY Clinical skin care line can help.
OXY Clinical has been developed by OXY Acne Solutions and is an over-the-counter acne treatment that offers breakthrough complexion care, providing pharmaceutical-grade medications and continuous-release technology to treat, heal and help prevent acne breakouts – all without a prescription. How great is that!
All OXY Clinical products contain an advanced delivery system technology that helps the product to work continuously over time. The OXY Clinical product line consists of
