Free Activities for Franklin Square 16th Anniversary

The Franklin Square Sweet 16th Celebration taking place Sunday, July 31, 2022, from 10 am – 12:30 pm, will be a day of family fun and free activities including Parx Liberty Carousel tickets, the premiere of a new Franklin Square Fountain Show, Once Upon A Nation Storyteller, and much more.


Franklin Square’s Sweet 16th Birthday Activities


Sunday, July 31, 2022, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm

  • 10 am: Family Fun in Franklin Square

    • Parx Liberty Carousel – First 100 customers get a free ride on the Carousel
    • Birthday Hats – Decorate a birthday hat
    • Tattoos – Choose a dragon or Franklin Square tattoo
    • Bag decoration – Decorate a goodie bag
    • Sweets and Treats – Show the decorated party hat to pick up candy and Franklin Square mementos
    • Chinese Lantern Festival Scavenger Hunt – Complete the free Scavenger Hunt and win a free ticket to ride the Parx Liberty Carousel (Visit the Ticket Booth in Franklin Square for information)
    • Once Upon a Nation Storyteller (10 am – 3 pm) – one of the four one-of-a-kind award-winning Historic District Once Upon A Nation Storytelling Benches is in Franklin Square, telling riveting stories of our nation’s history in the places where they actually happened. Specially-trained, uniformed storytellers delight and entertain with free, short 3-to-5-minute stories while sharing the secrets of Philadelphia’s and America’s history.

  • 11:30 am: Happy Birthday, Franklin Square! with Benjamin Franklin and free TastyKakes

  • 12 pm: Franklin Square Fountain Show – NEW SONG!

    • The premiere of a brand-new fountain show as a gift to Franklin Square guests, choreographed to Levitating by Dua Lipa. Watch as the 183-year-old historic fountain dazzles with lights and a choreographed water spectacular every 30 minutes (songs rotate every performance).
    • Fountain jets dance magically with dramatic lighting and music as LED lights glisten for visitors. Guests can enjoy choreographed “performances,” that showcase the historic infrastructure of the country’s oldest continuously operating fountain. FREE.

Franklin Square opens daily, 7 days a week, beginning at 10 am. All hours are weather permitting. 6th & Race Streets.
