Gather your family flock and head over to the New York Hall of Science (NYSCI) to check out the U.S. premiere of Angry Birds Universe: The Art and Science of a Global Phenomenon. We did with friends and had an awesome day of play and learning.

Note: I was invited as media to preview the exhibit. Views expressed are always 100% my own.

The Angry Birds Universe exhibit is separated in different parts. Each offering a themed activity and way to learn about science while playing with the Angry Birds.

We started by learning more about each of the original characters. Then when we walked around the panel, there was gaming panels to play the original game. Of course we did some gaming!

In this area we also learned about the wingspan of different birds, how different birds fly and how they build stable structures. We also had a chance to build a structure and test out of it could withstand an earthquake.

The next area we explored offer more chances to learn while engaging in fun play with the Angry Birds. Including life-sized slingshots so we can knockout those bad piggies!

There was LOTS to do and learn in this area. Good thing my son with his friend was ready to GO!

We started out in the creativity area where my son listened and then composed tunes. Meanwhile I was busy learning how to draw an Angry Bird.

Then we moved over to a more physical area we could actual build our own structures including piggies and then using a sling out, knock things over! This was one of the best areas and we spent LOTS of time there.

But the fun didn't stop there. We spent the rest of our time visiting the different sections and activities to see "science" in action with the Angry Birds.

The Angry Birds Universe offers a great interactive way for families to enter the Angry Birds World in a new way. While at first glace it looks like nothing but fun, each activity is designed to expose kids (and families) to how science works including mass, energy, simple machines, architecture and other science topics

Angry Birds Universe is open July 1 – August 27 and is free with general museum admission. (General admission: $16 adults, $13 children, students and senior citizens; free on Fridays from 2 – 5 pm and Sundays from 10 – 11 am).
