Sending kids out for "trick or treating" but worried about safety? According to Life360, a family connection and safety app, over 100,000 new Circles (private opt-in location-sharing groups) were created last Halloween.

Tips Using Life360 to Keep Kids Safe

About a third (32%) of surveyed parents agree with kids aged 11 to 13 trick-or-treating unsupervised (the same percentage of parents who were also allowed to trick-or-treat solo when they were that age).

However, while the age of physical independence hasn’t changed much, today’s parents prefer it come with a digital safety net, with over 70% insisting on kids sharing their location on Halloween.

About 1.5 million more people opened Life360 on Halloween 2025 and they did so more often, with opens per person jumping 9%.* This signals that families are leaning on tech to keep traditional pastimes alive, just with some added peace of mind.

Here are 3 tips from Life360 on how families can plan ahead for Halloween this year:

Plan Your Route Ahead of Time

Nearly half (47%) of surveyed parents prefer unsupervised kids to stay within a one-block or ¼ mile radius of home. Using a Place Alert and adjusting its radius to create a “Trick-or-Treat Zone.” It will send a notification if a candy craving causes them to venture further than you’re comfortable with.

Set a Curfew that Doesn’t Leave You Pacing at the Door

While only 9% of parents had a curfew in their trick-or-treating days, 85% will set a curfew for their kids on Halloween. No Show Alerts keep you from clockwatching, only sending a notification if someone in your Circle doesn’t arrive somewhere by a set time.

Know How to Find Help

48% of parents would let kids trick-or-treat without them if accompanied by a group of their trusted peers, SOS Alerts, available on the Life360 app or on Life360 Tile trackers (for younger kids), can quickly notify if they get separated or need help.
