The book features XR technology embedded visual activation codes, or PortalPoints, that prompt readers to pick up their phone or VR headset and engage with the story. VR elements have start and end points, giving users prompts as to when they can remove the goggles and read the next chapter.

In addition, an achievements panel promotes winning by reading, unlocking filters of characters introduced in the previous chapters, and allowing parents to receive notification of their child’s reading success.
