STEM Activities at N.Y. Power Authority Visitors Center
On Tuesdays in August, STEM activities for kids, will be featured at The New York Power Authority Visitors Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to exercise their hands and minds.
Aug. 9 – Rocket Science
Participants will build model rockets while exploring the science of rocketry. The children will use creative problem-solving skills as they take on the role of NASA engineers and play a fun, educational game illustrating the four forces of flight.
Aug. 16 – Slime Time
Participants will ooze into a gooey hour of sliming around to create slime using a secret recipe before entering the Slime Olympics!
Aug. 23 – Rocket Pulley
Visitors will follow a detailed construction plan to build a rocket pulley while exploring the science of rocketry. The children will use their creative problem-solving skills as they take on the role of NASA engineers and make their rocket fly using a pully system.
Aug. 30 – Galaxy Tubes
Visitors will create their own galaxy tube with glitter and water. Children will make a chemical reaction and watch their glitter and shapes float in their tubes.
The free activities will be available on a drop-in basis. Participants are encouraged to preregister for the activity by calling (315) 764-6679.
