I noticed The Peninsula New York Hotel, was offering a special fix prices menu at their Fives Restaurant in connection with Restaurant Week. Of course I had to visit!

Note: I did receive a complimentary Butterscotch Coffee but I paid for my dinner and wine myself. Views expressed are always 100% my own.

Since I had a free night to myself, I decided it was a perfect night to take myself out on a dinner date!

At the FIVES Restaurant I was greeted and told they already had a reservation for me. Imagine my surprise! I suspect it was because I mentioned on social media I was coming for a visit. Kudos to their social media person.

Soon, I was seated in a wide and very comfy chair and given a menu. I made my dinner order and requested a glass of wine to sip and enjoy while I waited.

The service was very friendly and out going. They made sure I had everything I needed and stayed only a few steps away in case I needed something else. Soon my dinner arrived!

Fives restaurant will feature a three-course pre fixe Chinese New Year lunch or dinner menu for only $35 through February 10th. But they also offer a regular pre fixe menu you should ask about.

My three-course pre fixe dinner menu for only $35 (plus tax) consisted of:

  • Pumpkin Risotto with duck confit and toasted pumpkin seeds
  • Chicken Cassoulet with braised chicken, olive oil poached beans and fresh herbs
  • Passionfruit Coconut Cake with mango sauce

The food was SO good! Nothing was over flavored/seasoned. I ate till I was so full!

As I sat there with a full tummy I started asking questions and learning about the FIVES Restaurant. One of the most important things I learned is that it's family friendly. They even have high chairs!

While Monday to Friday tends to be more of the business and international travelers crowd on the weekends you can families and couples enjoying a meal.

They do suggest you make a reservation though to make sure you can get a table to fit everyone.

After dinner, I was invited to enjoy a rooftop cocktails at the Salon de Ning, which features an intimate interior bar, complemented by two large outdoor terraces with Chinese-style day beds for relaxing and taking in the stunning views.

While I could have enjoyed any of their range of signature cocktails, it was suggested I tried their Butterscotch Coffee. I should mention that this is a very adult drink with 3 different types of Liqueur. Of course I loved it and would highly recommend it!

As I sipped my coffee, I looked out at the unbelievable beautiful night time view of Fifth avenue. It was a great way to end my date with myself. I'm happy I took the time to find out more about the The Peninsula New York and some of the things they offer.

Next time you're in the area make sure to stop in The Peninsula New York and find out what exciting things are happening. You'll be glad you did.
