The Apollo Historic tour provides the opportunity to visit the historic theater and explore the legendary history of the Apollo, with behind-the-scenes access to the place “Where Stars are Born and Legends are Made!”.

Days: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday
Times: 11am and 1pm
*PLEASE NOTE:Tours MUST be scheduled in advance.

Length of Tour: Each tour is 60-75 min. in length
Rates: $17/person (Individuals & groups of 19 or less)

This tour connects the past, present, and future of the Apollo through the entertaining and inspiring storytelling of Apollo historian Billy “Mr. Apollo” Mitchell.

Mr. Billy Mitchell has interacted with thousands of visitors from around the world, transporting them through the Apollo’s history and pivotal eras in Harlem with a unique presentation that is part performance and part historical lecture.

With his backstage memories and stories about Apollo legends like James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Mary J. Blige, and more, Mr. Mitchell provides a unique behind-the-scenes insight that only a true insider can give.

Family-friendly events at The Apollo Theater this summer including:

Amateur Night - After nearly two years of being dark, the classic Amateur Night competition returns to shed light on the careers of a whole new roster of child stars . Be a part of the notorious audience in an interactive, family-friendly evening unlike any other.

Apollo Education School Programs (K-12) - The Apollo’s School Programs are designed to suit the needs of students k-12, engaging music, dance, and theater while highlighting the rich history of The Apollo and its ongoing significance to Harlem and African American culture.
