Sony Pictures Animation's HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2 opens in theaters this weekend and we highly recommend it as a must see for families. The story line features SO much to enjoy.

Note: I was invited as media to an advance movie screening. Any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.

We are fans of the first Hotel Transylvania movie, so were excited to attend an advanced screening for HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2 thanks to KidzVuz and Sony.

While the first movie dealt with the parent and child relationship between Drac and Mavis, this time the sequel is about Drac and his half human grandson Dennis. And what a touching connection Drac has with Dennis.

Hotel Transylvania 2 Movie

From the start Drac is an attentive and involved Vampa (Grandpa Vampire) and it's wonderful to see. Drac is there for Mavis (and more so Dennis) from the pregnancy announcement to the first words. Which of course happened to be Blah Blah blah (Oh how adorable)

While these are all great moments in the movie, it's not till the time for Dennis to sprout his first vampire teeth, that the movie really begins. Now Drac is faced with the challenge of accepting his just human.

What happens next is an adventure in the movie and in our emotions as Drac tries to make Dennis into something he thinks his grandson should be. Feels familiar?

The issue of family trying to shape us into something THEY think we should be is something we ALL can relate to. While Drac goes into extreme, like taking Dennis to vampire camp and dropping him off a very high walk up so he can fly, the realization that we need to accept and love each other for who are, isn't so extreme and a great reminder by the movie.

But HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2 offers more then that life lesson. There's LOTS of laughter to enjoy. The original Drac Pack returns with continued story lines. Wolfman and his pack of kids. Frankenstein and his wife. The invisible man and his "invisible" moments. And Blobby who's says little but brings the funny.

Not to be left out, Mavis and Jonathan also share their humor. You'll snicker along as they try to figure out if life for their monster family is better in the human world (and it's wide range of potatoe chips selection) or at home in Transylvania.

To top it all off Drac is STILL trying to use modern technology, which brings one of the funniest moments in the movie. I swear my son's laughter was the loudest in the theater during the "cuckoo crazy mom" part. You'll see why when you see the movie. So get ready!

Movie Synopsis:

The Drac pack is back for an all-new monster comedy adventure in Sony Pictures Animation's Hotel Transylvania 2!

But behind closed coffins, Drac is worried that his adorable half-human, half-vampire grandson, Dennis, isn’t showing signs of being a vampire.

So while Mavis is busy visiting her human in-laws with Johnny – and in for a major cultural shock of her own – “Vampa” Drac enlists his friends Frank, Murray, Wayne and Griffin to put Dennis through a “monster-in-training” boot camp.

But little do they know that Drac’s grumpy and very old, old, old school dad Vlad is about to pay a family visit to the hotel. And when Vlad finds out that his great-grandson is not a pure blood – and humans are now welcome at Hotel Transylvania – things are going to get batty!
