McDonald's Chinese 'Year of the Horse' 2014 Calendar & New Year Pavilion

If you've followed my blog for a while you know that I work with and blog about McDonald's often. While I usually blog about their healthy menu items or recent events, this month I want to highlight what McDonald's is doing to support the heritage of the Asian Community.

About 3 years ago I learned about McDonald's Lunar New Calendar and loved the idea. Since then I've looked forward to seeing the calendar and the artwork from varies artist of Asian heritage. What I love the most about the Calendar is it's not just focused on the Chinese heritage. All "Asian" heritage is highlighted in the calendars artwork

This month for the sixth year, McDonald’s is once again honoring and promoting Asian cultures and traditions with the annual calendar.

But the McDonald’s new Lunar Calendar isn't the only way McDonald's is supporting the Asian community this month.

McDonald’s Family Pavilion will be opening in Los Angeles and San Francisco so that friends and families can celebrate the Lunar New Year. These two events will kick off McDonald’s year-round celebrations of various Asian festivals throughout the country.

  • Los Angeles: 2/8 (Sat.) Lunar New Year Celebration in Alhambra. McDonald’s booth location: Corner of Valley Blvd., & S. Sierra Vista Ave.

  • San Francisco: 2/15-16 (Sat. – Sun.) Chinese New Year Festival & Parade. McDonald’s booth location: Corner of Grant Ave. and Clay St

McDonald’s has printed 70,000 copies of the Year of the Horse 2014 calendar and will be giving them out at the Asian festivals while supplies last.

If you're in these areas make sure to look for special guest Ronald McDonald who will be present at the booth in LA, and then on the San Francisco Parade float to meet and greet friends and families in the community.

During these events, there will be McDonald’s Arch Cards and scholarship information available at the booth, along with giveaways and fun activities for a chance to receive McDonald’s premiums.

I'm really proud to work with McDonald’s and share how the brand values Asian Pacific Islander American (APIA) communities and has joined various APIA festivals across the country since 2005 to celebrate unique APIA cultures and heritage with local communities.
