The Snow Queen DVD Review

Growing up one of my favorite holiday stories was The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen. It was such a heart breaking tale but filled with adventure and in the end love. As a parent, I'd like my child to grow up knowing the same fairy tales I did, so I was excited to review The Snow Queen DVD

I enjoyed watching The Snow Queen DVD, the story telling is based on the original story but has a few new but good twist. While the main idea of the movie is for Gerda to rescue Kai, along the way Gerda learns and teaches many good lessons on friendship, acceptance of family, and love and forgivness.

The story is filled with fun and amazing characters who Gerda meets along the way. While some of them have bad intentions, it's because of the The Snow Queens wicked influence that makes them act not nice. Gerda is always able to find a way to touch their hearts and win their friendship.

It's this ability that helps Gerda finally win over The Snow Queen and save both Kai and the world. It's a great lesson for children to learn and the storytelling does it well.

Based on the beloved fairytale by Hans Christian Anderson, The Snow Queen tells a tale in a land far, far away, where the wicked Snow Queen has blanketed the kingdom in ice, plotting to turn it into a frozen landscape and imprison its people in a never-ending winter sleep, with no light, joy or happiness and no free will.

The only remaining obstacle to her evil plan is the son (Kai) and daughter (Gerda) of Vegard, a master glass-maker whose mirrors reflect not only appearances but reveal a person’s soul

But when Kai is abducted and held captive in the palace, it's up to his sister, Gerda, to rescue him before it’s too late! The determined girl treks across the forbidding and frigid land, battling daunting obstacles and encountering new friends who help in her quest to set Kai free, defeat the Snow Queen and save the world from eternal frost.
