Chevrolet Urban Style Event for The Impala 2014 #ChevyUrbanStyle

Note: I am being compensated to cover the Chevy Urban Style event as media and participate in the twitter party. All personal thoughts and opinions are my own.

Recently I attended the Urban Style event to learn more about the all-new redesigned 2014 Chevrolet Impala and how it can fit into a family lifestyle. And yes I'll admit I was excited to get a chance to sit inside one and play with all the new cool features.

At first glance the Impala has an exterior look that's slick with a hint of a sport car feel. The colors options are a vibrant red or a cool shiny black. My photos don't quite capture either color properly but hopefully you get the idea.

After checking out the outside, I slide into the comfy leather seats to get a feel for the Impala interior. First thing I noticed is how roomy it is. The dashboard is more molded into the car with side arm rest with lots of storage and design details.

Of course I had to learn more about the available technology. I liked what I learned!
The 2014 Impala is equipped with the newest Chevrolet MyLink™† in-car infotainment system, which seamlessly integrates Bluetooth®† wireless for select phones, advanced touch-screen technology and natural voice recognition. It allows drivers to make calls, stream music from online services like Pandora,®† operate USB†-connected devices —and so much more — with ease. They can even customize the high-resolution 8-inch color touch-screen for quicker access to the features they use most.

Sadly I couldn't sit in the car all night. After allowing other people at the event a chance to sit in the comfy seats, I spent some time speaking with Crystal Windham, Director of Interior Design for Chevrolet Cars and Small Crossovers.

Crystal shared that a lot of thought went into the redesign. They really tried to find a balance between providing comfort for the driver and essential for the passengers. While they did want to tap into some trendy features, overall the redesign is about getting back to that classic comfort feel.

I then went on to interview Rick Williams, founder and creative director of DISTINCT LIFE, and co-owner of two metro Detroit-based sneaker and apparel boutiques, Burn Rubber and two|eighteen by Burn Rubber. Rick shared about his logo design, his families connection to Chevrolet and how the Impala can be a family car. Below listen to what he had to say during my interview with him

After learning so much at the 2014 Chevrolet Impala, I went on and enjoyed the rest of the party.

I had a chance to hangout and chat with women I spend more time with on twitter then in real life. It was good to catch up with Christen (Divas & Dorks), Barbara Jones (One2One Network), Scotty Reiss (SheBuysCars), and DC area Bloggers Lara (Chicken Nuggets of Wisdom), Amanda (The Dude Mom) and Arnebya (What Now and Why).

What a fun night! But wait the fun isn't over.

Join me and Traveling Moms on Monday 5/13 at 9p EST for the #ChevyUrbanStyle #TMOM twitter party to talk about cars, style and the New Chevy Impala! There will be prizes so make sure to here RSVP:

  2. Oooh I love the Impala! We looked into buying one back in 2005, but this takes the cake. Looks like a fun event to attend.
