Ubisoft Holiday Video Games Preview feat Marvel’s The Avengers: Battle for Earth

A few weeks ago Ubisoft held a media preview for their holiday video games including: Marvel’s The Avengers, their WiiU titles: Rabbids Land, Rayman Legends, and ZombiU, Assassin’s Creed III and AC Liberation (for the Vita), Far Cry 3, Rocksmith’s new Bass Package, and two new Facebook games: National Geographic: The Game and Universal Movies Game.

Being a fan of Marvel and The Avengers, I made sure to stop and learn all about the upcoming game first!
"Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth" game was inspired by the "Secret Invasion" storyline and features 20 different characters, including Black Widow, Captain America, Doctor Strange, Doctor Doom, Hawkeye, Hulk, Iceman, Iron Man, Loki, Magneto, Spider-Man, Storm, Super-Skrull, Thor, Venom, and Wolverine.

Each character will have four unique super powers. Motion gameplay will be used to unleash super attacks, velocity boosts, breakers and frenzies. Alternate costumes and collector cards can unlocked to players throughout the game.

The game can be played on the Kinect for Xbox 360 and Nintendo’s Wii U gaming system but just a heads up while the story line is the same the playing experience is slightly different. Not bad just different.

As you can see in my video above, my demo was using the Kinect for Xbox 360 and I was able to see how players can use their movements during game play. One of the awesome things about this game is using each super heroes special abilities and movements. Always wanted to do a Hulk thunder clap? I sure did. Now you can!

A few other things I liked about the game is the point of view of the players. It's NOT first-person shooter but more of an over the shoulder POV. I also liked that you can swap out characters easily. While this is a battle game, there's no gross violence or body parts flying. It's family friendly so generations of fan can play together.

Another game I checked out and was impressed with was Rayman Legends, which was demoed on Nintendo's Wii GamePad. Since attending the Nintendo Wii U Experience a few months back, I've been interested in all the different games that can be played using this console

To play Rayman Legends, players can use the Wii GamePad’s touch screen to battle enemies and move around in the game. They can also use the gyroscope to change and rotate platforms directly on the TV screen. The Nintendo Wii UTM GamePad also allows players to continue game play on the GamePad’s screen even while the television is off.

The Rayman Legends game has entertaining gaming modes, new characters, new environments and a new soundtrack. The game features a variety of uniquely-themed levels, including several musical maps. Players also can connect online with friends for challenges and ranking on the worldwide leader boards.

At the preview there were many more games demoed, but these two stood out for their easy of use and family gaming friendlyness. To learn more about the other Ubisoft games coming out this summer and fall visit: www.Ubi.com
