Mike the Knight Screening & Mission of the Month

A few days ago I attended a private screening for Mike the Knight, a new CG-animated preschool series set in the medieval land of Glendragon, with castles, quests, dragons and trolls. The half-hour, adventure series aims to teach kids about friendship, loyalty, and determination.

Mike the Knight Screening

Mike the Knight centers on Mike, a young boy who's son of the King and Queen of Glendragon, determined to follow in his father's footsteps to become a brave and noble knight. With the triumphant motto, "Be a knight, do it right," the would-be hero is joined in his adventures by a host of medieval characters, including his trusty steed Galahad, two friendly dragons, Squirt and Sparkie, and his sister, Evie, a wizard-in-training. In every episode, a mission is set and Mike rises to the challenge with the help of his closest friends.

Mike the Knight taps into children's fascination with fantasy/medieval elements without removing them from the familiarity of their everyday lives, and aims to bring the enchantment of medieval times into the life of the modern preschooler. Mike the Knight was created by Alexander Bar (Lunar Jim) and is written by Marc Seal (Head Writer, Bob the Builder).

Besides watching an episode of Mike the Knight, the kids attending the screening enjoyed balloon swords and hats made just for them, fun stickers of Mike the Knight characters and a meet & photo opp with Mike the Knight himself!

After watching the screening episode, I really liked that show helps children learn problem-solving, self-confidence, and how to do the right thing. While these are simple everyday skills to adults, teaching them to children sometime can be hard. Thankfully parents have help with Mike the Knight’s Mission of the Month

Each month, children (with their parents permission and help) will be asked to perform a new mission on Mike’s Facebook page. After each one is accomplished, these young knights-in-training will receive an award badge to attach to your mission poster. Mike the Knight gallops onto Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. in the US. For more information, fun, games, videos and activities, visit www.miketheknight.com
