Disney Pixar Cars 2 Movie Review & Blu-ray/ DVD Release

When I was invited to an advanced screening of Disney Pixar Cars 2, I was so excited. Since I was a fan of the first Cars movie and its loveable Radiator Springs characters. I couldn’t wait to see what the characters have been up to since the last movie. I was excited to see all my old favorites and learn about the new cars being introduced in Cars 2.

CARS 2 Movie Bluray DVD
Star racecar Lightning McQueen and the incomparable tow truck Mater take their friendship to exciting new places in “Cars 2” when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Mater finds himself torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret mission orchestrated by master British super spy Finn McMissile and the stunning rookie field spy Holley Shiftwell.

My Review

Within the first 15minutes of the movie starting, I realized this is a very different Cars movie then the original. Within the first scene cars were trying to hurt the main car and even shooting at him *gasp*. In another scene one car was sent over board to his watery grave *double gasp*

While I did know that Cars 2 would have a more spies versus spies feel, I thought the espionage would be worked in a bit later in the movie. I didn’t expect all that action and shooting within the first few minutes of the movie. Once I became use to the flow of Car 2 I was able to watch and enjoy it on it’s own and not in the shadow of the originals Cars movie.

The storyline for Cars 2 is geared towards older children, who can understand the deep plot and hidden stories. Older children will love the new car characters and the action as they race in different countries. I enjoyed watching Mater learn how important true friendship is and how it can save the day. I loved the rookie spy Holley Shiftwell because she is female, smart and she can fly!

If your a fan of the original Cars , don’t worry there are scenes with the original Radiator Springs characters and it’s just as fun and loveable. All in all the movie does blend the two Cars movie worlds well and offers something new and exciting for the next generation of fans.

Do you think you’d like to see CARS 2? Great because it races to the shelves on Blu-ray™ Combo Pack, Blu-ray 3D™, DVD and Movie Download on November 1, 2011.
