Cosmedix : Purity Clean Exfoliating Cleanser & Mystic Hydrating Treatment Review

As a person who loves skincare products, I’m always searching for face products that won’t dry out my skin or cause breakouts. Recently I was offered a chance to review two face products from the Cosmedix line - Purity Clean Exfoliating Cleanser ($34, 3.3 fl oz) and Mystic Hydrating Treatment ($36, 4 fl oz).

According to the website, Purity Clean Exfoliating Cleanser is a “concentrated, exfoliating cleanser infused with peppermint essential oil to cool the skin and stimulate circulation. This refreshing cleanser penetrates deep, eliminating cellular debris, decongesting pores and hydrating, to keep normal to oily skin healthy and glowing.”

Now when I see a product that says ‘Exfoliating’, I immediately think it will have that granular scrub feel on my skin, knowing it’s physically scrubbing my skin clean of dead skin cells. If that is what you expect and like from an exfoliator, than this cleanser is not for you since it's a non-foaming, creamy cleanser that really just felt like a normal cleanser. It definitely has an invigorating peppermint scent which is great as a morning wake up and I really like that aspect of the product.

The directions indicate only needing a small amount of cleanser (about 1 pump) and also warns on the label that the ingredients may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun and you should wear sunscreen after use. Overall, I will probably continue to use this cleanser on occasion rather than an everyday use since I’m wary of using products that can make my skin more vulnerable to the sun’s effects.

Based on the products description of the Mystic Hydrating Treatment, it utilizes “heavy water (D2O) in place of pore-clogging oils and is a superior moisturizer for oily and blemish-prone skin. Applied mornings or throughout the day as needed, this refreshing mist offers intense hydration and protection for sensitive and problem skin and can also be used to set mineral makeup.”

The spray is a nice face refresher in the hot weather and has a light witch hazel scent to it. It does hydrate the skin with a light mist and I can see using it after getting off a long flight where your skin is dehydrated from the recycled pressurized air in the cabin. Yet I don’t see myself spending $36 for it (body or face mist) as it’s not an essential product needed in my daily beauty regime. I wouldn’t replace it as a daily moisturizer either since I need to have SPF in my moisturizer and this would only add another step in my beauty
regime.

Overall it’s a nice face spritz to refresh and moisturize and won’t make your makeup runny, but I think I would actually use it more as a body mist for the heat.
