MY REVIEW
Since my son is allergic to apples and peaches, I wanted to watch this DVD with him to show having allergies is a normal and ok thing. Sometimes he feels a bit odd when other kids are eating something he can't.

We both enjoyed the stores on the DVD's. My son found confidence since some of the characters also shared his allergies and told their friends. I thought this DVD was a great way for my son and other kids to learn how to share with others about their allergies in simple way. Plus the stories were told in a humorous none scary way.

DVD SYNOPSIS

Young viewers can join Binky as he works to understand his peanut allergy in an ARTHUR story, and Daniel Tiger as he tries a peach for the first time, only to discover that he’s allergic to the fruit. Also featured are PEG + CAT and WORDWORLD stories. Kids can watch Peg search for Cat after he runs away from home when Peg learns she might be allergic to her best friend, and Pig struggle to tell his friends that he is allergic to peaches after Sheep and Dog bring over a bag of the fruit for him to make into pies.

Stories featured on the new title include:

  • “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood: Daniel’s Allergy - When Daniel tries a peach for the first time, he learns he is allergic to the fruit. Dad and Doctor Anna take care of him, and Doctor Anna tells Daniel how he can take care of himself, too.
  • “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood: Allergies at School” - Daniel is celebrating the 100th day at school. He tells Teacher Harriet and his friends that he is allergic to peaches. Teacher Harriet, Katerina, Miss Elaina, O the Owl, and Prince Wednesday take care of Daniel by helping him avoid peaches. They all take care of each other in different ways throughout the school day.
  • “Arthur: Binky Goes Nuts” - When Binky discovers that he’s allergic to peanuts, he has so many questions: will he be forced to live without Chinese food? Will he ever again be able to eat with his friends? And most importantly, will his Mom ever calm down? Binky learns that the best way not to go nuts is to be well informed, and to understand his allergy.
  • “Peg + Cat: The Allergy Problem” - When Peg is told she’s allergic to Cat, Cat leaves home! Ramone flies Peg around the world in his flying machine that runs on 100 pebbles, in search of her friend.
  • “WordWorld: Achoo!” - Pig is allergic to peaches! Too bad Sheep doesn’t know that! When she brings Pig a big bag of peaches to make pies, Pig starts sneezing so much that he can’t even tell Sheep what he really needs is a…a…apples. Sheep tries to guess what Pig needs, imagining a silly array of a-sounding words!

  2. This will be excellent to teach kids why someone can't do something or acts in a different way due to allergies. Maybe it can lessen bullying and teach tolerance and empathy. If I win the dvd gets donated to a local library.

  8. Aside from being some great shows, I think this is a wonderful way to teach kids about allergies.

  9. My daughter has seasonal allergies, plus she loves all of these shows (except for Arthur. For some reason, my pre-schooler has always hated Arthur with a white hot passion. I don't get it.)
