For 2017 PLAYMOBIL’s first licensed entertainment properties debuted with new lines inspired by Sony Pictures Consumer Products’ original Ghostbusters™ and Universal Brand Development for DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon. Of course I had to visit the booth while at Toy Fair 2017 to see it all.

Fire-breathing dragons soar through the universe of PLAYMOBIL with this collection of playsets based on the thrilling action-adventure saga adored by families and critics alike. Fans can now meet their favorite Dragons characters and play out familiar and new adventures at home. Key new playsets include:

Hiccup & Toothless (9246) Available: August 2017 Age: 4-12 MSRP: $34.99

Join in all the action with Berk’s heroic duo, Hiccup and Toothless. In true Night Fury fashion, Toothless can shoot a blue fire dart from his mouth, keeping his enemies at bay. With illuminating back spikes (1 x AAA battery required), Toothless isn’t easily intimidated, and together, he and Hiccup will do whatever it takes to protect Berk and its dragon friends. Thanks to the saddle, Hiccup can comfortably sit on Toothless’ back and help him fly. Set includes Hiccup, Toothless, blue fire dart, flame sword, helmet, and other accessories.

Astrid & Stormfly (9247) Available: August 2017 Age: 4-12 MSRP: $29.99

Show off some girl power and head out on an adventure with Astrid and Stormfly. Playful in nature but ferocious in battle, this duo is ready to take down Drago! Astrid can use the saddle to sit on Stormfly’s back. When the battle is won, the saddle can be removed, and Stormfly can enjoy some free flying! Set includes Astrid, Stormfly, saddle, and battle axe.

Drago’s Ship (9244): Available: August 2017 Age: 4-12 MSRP: $44.99

Battle the dragon-riders’ fiercest enemy yet, Drago, as he approaches on his ship. This floating ship has everything Drago needs for his devious attempts to trap dragons. The dragon cage with lock is used to contain captured dragons, while the functioning crossbows defend against any incoming fire. Set includes Drago, one other figure, spears, torch, and other accessories.


Gobber with Catapult (9245): Available: August 2017 Age: 4-12 MSRP: $12.99

Join the most loyal Viking around, Gobber, as he defends Berk with his trusty Catapult. Known for his skills of making dragon-friendly devices, his loyalty to Berk and their fire-breathing friends is no match for any enemy. Thanks to his interchangeable arm attachments, Gobber can sport either a battle axe or a mace. This combined with his functioning catapult give him the ultimate tools for defense. Set also includes boulders and Viking helmet.

Berk (9243): Available: August 2017 Age: 4-12 MSRP: $119.99

On the island of Berk, dragon-riding is a must! Here, young Viking warriors befriend dragon companions, and together, they keep an eye out for trouble that might threaten their home. Berk’s two-story fortress features a functioning catapult capable of defending the fortress from high above, a fiery crossbow ready to strike down enemies, and a functioning pulley to transport supplies. Stoick, the Viking leader, stands within the walls of the fortress overseeing the community and readying for any enemy attacks. His son Hiccup is ready for action with his flame sword and is Berk’s resident expert on dragons and dragon-riding. At night, the functioning torch and Viking statue illuminate the fortress (3 x AAA batteries required). Set also includes awning, trapdoor, two dragons, torches, boulders, and tons of other accessories.

Find Spengler mixing up his current ghost-fighting mixture in the lab, Stantz keeping a close watch on the Library Ghost, and Janine answering all ghostbusting calls. When the call comes in, watch them race into action sliding down the fire pole to the garage. Park the Ecto-1 (9220 - sold separately) inside for even more ghoulish action. And don’t forget to lock up all ghosts in the Ghost Containment Unit.

Ghostbusters Ecto-1 #9220

Speed through the city in this legendary action vehicle which has plenty of space for proton packs and ghost traps thanks to the detachable roof. With original sounds and functioning lights, this vehicle is set for ghostbusting action. Set also includes Ghostbusters Winston Zeddemore and Janine Melnitz in their official uniforms with two detachable proton packs and proton wands, ghost trap, PKE meter for measuring psychokinetic energy, and silicone slime splatters that stick to smooth surfaces.

Stay Puft Marshmallow Man #9221

He may look fluffy and cute, but Stay Puft is ready to scare the city! With movable arms, there is no stopping him as he stomps along the streets. Stand back as Ghostbuster Ray Stantz uses his proton pack on the larger-than-life-ghost and covers the city in marshmallow! Set also includes Ecto-Goggles and other accessories.

  1. We have been longtime fans of How to Train your dragon. My daughter calls her older brother "Hiccup" because when Jimmy's hair was long and shaggy he looked like he stepped right out of the movie. We are going to have to get these toys for my grandson.
