There's nothing like a family who can laugh together. During a recent Billy Kelly Comedy show at Peoples Improv Theater, my son and I did exactly that.
Note: I was invited as media to this event and received show tickets for review purpose. However any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.
You might wonder how can I take my son to a comedy show. But Billy Kelly is very family friendly. He's jokes include no bad language, direct or implied, some silly storytelling and a few interactive moments for kids to be part of the act.
However some parts go over a child heads. There was one point where he made a joke about a dictionary. I immediately got the joke. My 8 year old son who is growing up in the time of ask siri and google now....asked me what a dictionary is. This of course made me laugh even more.
But overall it was an nice show and a great way to bond as a family.
This Saturday marks the third show in Billy Kelly’s new monthly residency of his stand up comedy for families at Manhattan’s People’s Improv Theater.
BILLY KELLY’S FAMILY COMEDY SHOW AT PEOPLES IMPROV THEATER- UNDERGROUND
Date: Jan 7, Feb 4, March 4 (First Saturdays at 3:00PM)
Price: $10 kids/ $15 adults
Billy likes to think of his stand up as comedy toast with the crust cut off; if that crust was made of swear words and jokes about dating. So basically there is none of that stuff — just good clean laughs and absurd fun that people of all ages can enjoy together.
Because the world REALLY REALLY needs more of that sort of thing! (Billy’s comedy is meant for the 8 and up crowd.)
