This weekend, Momtrends invited us to join the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at the Liberty Science Center to train to be ninjas and eat pizza (of course!).

Note: I was invited as media to this event. While this is a sponsored post, any personal views expressed are always 100% my own

Our visit was part of the celebrate the new exhibit, Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™: Secrets of the Sewer™ open now through September 5.

But before we could check out the TMNT Secrets of the Sewer exhibit, we needed to be ready. And so the training began!

We meet, touched and learned about different types of turtles.

We learned how to throw a grapple (plastic so safe).

We learned how to open secret boxes by reading special marking and techniques.

Then my son received his Certified Pizza Ninja certificate.

Which lead to us eating pizza...naturally.

After all the training (and eating) we were ready to check out the TMNT Secrets of the Sewer exhibit.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles brothers Leonardo (the tactical, courageous leader in blue), Michelangelo (the free-spirited jokester in orange), Raphael (the aggressive tough guy in red), and Donatello (the scientist and technological genius in purple) invite guests to their New York City sewer lair to train together and learn about the Turtles’ comedic, skillful strategies.

Visitors will be transported to the underground home of the crime-fighting heroes to see what really happens in their secret hideaway. Through team-building challenges, collaborative games and mind-teasing puzzles, families will learn skills to help them successfully work together.

Including:
  • Build a “bridge” together and think creatively as a team to overcome challenges.
  • Assemble two electrical circuit puzzles by taking one apart to build another.
  • Plan ahead and use patience to navigate the rope maze.
  • Practice Ninja speed and slicing skills while playing a dexterity-based computer game.
  • Shred up and practice your balance on skateboards.
  • Create a sewer pipe together and see where it goes.

My son had a blast in the exhibit, but the pizza theme fun didn't end there. We headed over to the “The Science of Pizza” presentation by celebrity chef Donatella Arpaia and the Star-Ledger’s Munchmobile maestro Pete Genovese.

There my son (and other kids) learned a bit about the history of pizza, what makes it tastes so good and join in to make their own or take turns flipping the dough (not real).

Needless to say my son (and other kids) had a blast.

It was a great way to celebrate the opening of Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™: Secrets of the Sewer™ exhibit.

Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Secrets of the Sewer will be at Liberty Science Center from May 28 through September 5, and is included with general admission tickets ($21.75 for adults, $18.75 for seniors 62+, and $17.75 for children ages 2-12). Members and children under 2 are free.
