Our The Jungle Book VR Experience: Through Mowgli's Eyes #JungleBook #ThroughMowglisEyes
This weekend we visited our AMC Empire theater to get a first look at the Disney’s THE JUNGLE BOOK interactive virtual reality experience.
Note: I was invited as media to this event. However any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.
Like most VR experiences we had to put on the goggles and headgear to be fully immersed in the "world". And what a world it was! The Jungle Book world where I could be Mowgli in a tree... in the jungle... with Kaa the Snake.
Now I'm not going to tell you what I saw, but I will warn you to be prepared. It REALLY feels like your part of that well known moment when Mowgli and Kaa meet.
While I had a blast acting out the scene, my son only enjoyed being in the VR world and looking around. When it came to meeting Kaa, he didn't like that part very much. LOL
Overall it's a great way to get kids (and adults) excited for when Disney’s THE JUNGLE BOOK releases in theaters on April 15, 2016. Be on the lookout for Through Mowglis Eyes: The Jungle Book VR Experience to come to a theater in your area!
In this real-time rendered VR experience, you are placed high-up on a tree in the middle of the jungle, surrounded by lush trees and dense fog.
You suddenly hear a voice in the distance. Where is it coming from? Who might it be? Suddenly, your surroundings start to move. A chill goes through your body. Before you know what’s happening, you see her...KAA, the snake. Coiling around the trees, she approaches you slowly but surely...
The Walt Disney Studios released an interactive 360 video and virtual reality experience tied to the upcoming live action film The Jungle Book exclusively on Facebook.
“Through Mowgli’s Eyes Part 1: Trust in Me,” debuted on The Jungle Book Facebook page and will also be available as a virtual reality experience in select IMAX theaters at AMC locations across the country.
The simultaneous release of a virtual reality experience and watch the 360 video on Facebook is unprecedented, and in the weeks leading up to the film’s debut additional content will transport audiences deeper into the world of The Jungle Book.
To ensure the experience remains authentic to the film, director Jon Favreau oversaw production and direction of both experiences, working closely with the VFX companies who created the incredible characters and settings of the film.
