During a media preview Symphony Space's Just Kidding and Thalia Kids Book Club, as well as the Global Arts educational outreach program, shared about some of their upcoming family friendly performances opening Fall 2015 into 2016 season

So what is Entertainmentology 101?

Presenting weekly sketch comedy, puppetry, and high-energy music and dance performances, Just Kidding at Symphony Space presents a high-energy collection of performing arts programming, specially designed families with children ages 2 and up.

The "Entertainmentology 101" preview included a zany performance from Story Pirates and The Pop Ups, two stars of the upcoming "Just Kidding" season. Both performances were interactive and engaging. Kids (and parents) will enjoy catching their shows.

Fall 2015 2015 Just Kidding performances

  • The high-energy, kid-powered dance talents of National Dance Institute (NDI) Celebration Team will perform to bluegrass, folk, blues, spirituals, and other music that defines our nation and its people, on October 24th.
  • Jazzy Ash's Halloween inspired songs with a New Orleans twist on October 31st
  • A seafaring adventure story with puppets called "The Great Red Ball Rescue" is slated for November 7th.
  • A rare acoustic concert with Justin Roberts...Unplugged on November 14th.
  • Awe-inspiring street dance from Rennie Harris RHAW on December 12th.
  • Puppetry fun arrives in time for the holidays with "Lollipops for Breakfast” on December 19th,

More performances are scheduled from January through March 2016.

For older kids and tweens: Thalia Kids’ Book Club

Launched 10 years ago, this is a one-of-a-kind series in New York, uniting avid children and tweens readers with well-known children’s authors and books that inspire their imaginations.

Fall highlights include

  • New York Times bestselling authors Brian Selznick (Nov 22)
  • Guys Read Terrifying Tales with Jon Scieszka, Michael Buckley, Rita Williams Garcia, Dav Pilkey and more (Oct 25)
  • A Celebration of Dr. Seuss, benefiting Team First Book-NYC (Dec 13).
  • In the new year, R.J. Palacio and Rebecca Stead join forces on Jan 24 to discuss their latest work and authors will pay tribute to Beverly Cleary (April 3).

Details about the fall Thalia Kids’ Book Club events are below. Tickets are $15 each ($12 for Symphony Space members). 


Just Kidding Birthday Fun

Just Kidding birthday packages are designed to make party planning easy, engaging, and enriching for everyone involved. Kids interact directly with Just Kidding artists, while enjoying tasty snacks, a cake, free music, and a few pairs of extra hands to help parents wrangle the kids.
