Nickelodeon’s Worldwide Day of Play 2015 Events in the U.S #WWDoP
On Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, Nickelodeon will celebrate "Worldwide Day of Play" by encouraging kids to get up and get active starting at 7am, when Nickelodeon stars will team up with kids from the “Road to Worldwide Day of Play” summer tour to share tips on how to play. The spots will feature Isabella Moner, Owen Joyner and Jaheem Toombs (100 Things to Do Before High School), and Kel Mitchell and Benjamin “P-Nut” Flores (Game Shakers).
Nickelodeon is celebrating kids and all the ways they play on Sept. 26, when its TV channels, websites and app go off-air and offline from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. (all times ET/PT), and more than 4,000 events are held nationwide for the network’s 12th Annual Worldwide Day of Play (WWDoP). Nickelodeon, Nicktoons, Nick Jr., TeenNick, Nick.com, NickJr.com, Nicktoons.com, TeenNick.com and the Emmy® Award-winning Nick App will all participate.
“Raising awareness around the importance of leading a healthy, balanced lifestyle to our audience has been a primary focus for Nickelodeon for the past twelve years,” said Marva Smalls, Executive Vice President, Public Affairs, Viacom Kids and Family Group. “We have been fortunate to have the strength of our message amplified through remarkable partners who share our vision and have been on the road with us throughout the summer celebrating kids who are active and inspire others to do the same.”
Thousands of kids (and their families) across the country are expected to participate in events hosted by Nickelodeon’s national and grassroots partners, including: the Afterschool Alliance, the Association of Children’s Museums, the Boys and Girls Club of America, the Girl Scouts of the USA, Key Club/Kiwanis, Major League Baseball’s #Play Ball, the National Environment Education Foundation, NBA Fit, NFL PLAY 60, Playworks, Right to Play, USA Dance, Roller Skating International, Save the Children, Up2Us Sports, USA BMX and the YMCA of the USA.
Worldwide Day of Play is part of Nickelodeon’s ongoing health and wellness efforts and continues the network’s legacy of promoting pro-social initiatives to its viewers.
