Celebrating Birthdays Cake Recipe & PYREX 100 Anniversary Giveaway #Pyrex100
June for my family will always be a special month. It's my son's birthday! Of course that means birthday cake! I usually buy a pre-made cake and send it to class with my son, but this year my son requested WE make the cake. Wait what?!
Note: I have partnered with World Kitchen LLC to share the new about Pyrex® 100th Anniversary product line. While this is a compensation post, any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.
For whatever reason my son wanted to make his own birthday cake this year. At first I wasn't sure. While I do like to bake, I have to be honest that I don't have a lot of extra time these days to do it. But my son wanted and insisted (aka nagged) so I made the time!
Good thing I received World Kitchen's Pyrex 100 glassware products as part of their 100th Anniversary celebration. My gift set included Pyrex 100th Anniversary Measuring Cup, Storage Dish, Pie Plate and Portables baking dish. The limited edition centennial product line feature fresh takes on vintage designs much loved from the 50's and 60's.
These items really came in handy when we started to bake my son's birthday cake. We loved using the Pyrex 100th Anniversary Measuring Cup. We measured all the liquid ingredients quickly. So adding to the mix was nice and easy. Of course my son wanted to help.
As I watched him pour and then mix, I remembered when I joined my mother in the kitchen to "help" bake or cook something. While in part this moment is about his cake, it's more about sharing a moment and making memories with my son.
After a finally mix, it was time to pour our cake batter into our Pyrex baking dish. Perfect size to make a flat cake for my son's class! From there the hard work was done. All I needed to do was put into the oven and then sit back and wait for the cake to bake.
After cooling, I cut up the cake into kid friendly pieces and put in my Pyrex storage dish for easy organization. My son will be happy to share his birthday cake with his friends in class.
Interested in our cake? I kept it simple with a funfetti cake recipe
1 15.25-ounce package of Funfetti cake mix
1 cup water
1/2 cup oil
3 whole eggs
- Mix the cake mix, water, oil and eggs until the ingredients are thoroughly combined.
- Bake at 350 degrees, in the middle of the oven based on your baking container. We used the 13x9 baking dish so for us 4-38 minutes
- When toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, cake is done!
- Cool 10 to 15 minutes before removing from pan.
- Cool cake before frosting
