Annie Movie Blu-ray DVD Combo is Perfect for Family Movie Night #AnnieMovie #skexperts

When I first heard about the remake of Annie, I wasn't sure if I should be excited or apprehensive. Like many adults in my age range, I grew up with memories of the curly hair little girl who had big hopes, dreams and a love for singing.

Annie Movie Blu-ray DVD Combo Pack for Family Movie Night

Note: This post is part of a collaboration between Sony Entertainment Pictures and SheKnows. While this is a compensation post, any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.

I held Anne and her story of finding a family close to my heart. Her story of wanting a family to share love and happiness with was something we all related to. Could this modern day remake invoke the same feelings? Would the determination and positive spirit of "Annie" shine through all the Hollywood "extra" add-in? Would we sing along with the new remixed tunes?

These important questions were in my mind when I was contacted to screen the Annie movie in connection with the Blu-ray Combo Pack release on March 17, 2015 as well as the Digital HD release on March 10, 2015.

While I've posted about the Annie movie before on the blog, when the movie released over the 2014 holiday, I didn't get a chance to see it. I blame my busy schedule. But now things have settled down and I really wanted to watch the Annie movie. In part I wanted to see Quvenzhane Wallis and her curls. She is so cute.

But also I wanted to see how the story was developed and could it touch me. Again. In a new way.

I'm honored to share that the Annie movie did. And in more than one way.

So what impressed me?

First there's the feel good idea of a character faced with incredible odds against them but still being positive and overcoming it all. As we all know, Annie is a foster child living in not so happy conditions. But that doesn't stop her. She has hope and it's this hope that drives her.

To have and keep hope with anything you do in life is a wonderful lesson. But Annie's hope doesn't just inspire her but also touches everyone around her. In the beginning Annie's hope touches the other foster kids who also wish for a loving family, Mr. Stacks who realizes he works too much and is missing out on life and love and even the not so nice Ms. Hannigan, who realize she's better than her past "failures".

Hope it a powerful thing.

I was also impressed with the diverse "storyline" of the movie. While we all know the main story, there was new interesting twist that will catch the attention of all members of the family. There's action and adventure, there's romance, there's mystery, there's comedy, there's musical scenes, there's even amazing technology. Seriously my fellow techie families are going to LOVE all the different ways technology and social media is featured in the movie.

I was really impressed that technology was its own character in the movie. Like my son, many kids are now growing up with technology and can really relate to how it's being used in the movie.

While these two themes helped me enjoy the Annie movie, it was the classic theme of family that set my fears about the remake to rest and allowed me to enjoy Annie on its own merit. There's a scene when Annie (Quvenzhane Wallis) and Mr. Stacks (Jamie Foxx) have a "moment". I don't want to tell you everything but I'll warn you to get a tissue.

There's a lot more I can say about the movie, but I want you and your family to experience the Annie movie together and fall in love with Annie and her story in an all new way.

Make sure to pick up the Blu-ray Combo Pack release on March 17, 2015 or/and the Digital HD release on March 10, 2015.
