The LEGO Flatiron Store Opening & Building a Statue of Liberty #LEGOFlatiron

Earlier this month a new LEGO Store opened in the Flatiron area of Manhattan and we were there to welcome them. All that grand opening weekend, The LEGO Store Flatiron offered fun displays and activities for families in the area to enjoy.

We stopped in the store to see the NYC themed LEGO displays and of course check out some of the LEGO play sets. The new Flatiron District Store is the 76th LEGO Store in the United States and features:

After touring around the store we headed over to the Madison Square Park to see the LEGO displays. All over the park were life size models of princess, superheroes and ninja turtles!

After seeing the displays we headed over to the building stations to do our part to help the LEGO Master Builders construct a 20-foot tall LEGO model of the Statue of Liberty.

At each stations we received instructions, blocks and help to make a section to be added to the Statue of Liberty LEGO model.

After we finished our piece, we stopped by another station to get checked. Our block piece passed inspection! It was collected to be added to the LEGO Liberty model.

My son receives his building certificate and proudly displays it for all to see. Good building kid. Good building.

If you missed the grand opening activities, don't worry. There's still lots for you and your family to do when visiting the store including:
  • LEGO Lounge - Unique to the LEGO Store Flatiron District, the LEGO Lounge invites parents and children to get cozy on the over sized couch, enjoy the latest LEGO books in our reading area, build on the LEGO carpet, or simply recharge at our free charging stations. Young builders are also welcome and are sure to enjoy the LEGO DUPLO Preschool building area.
  • Monthly Mini Model Build - Children ages 6 to 14 can join in on the first Tuesday of every month and learn how to build a cool mini model, then take it home – for free! A new, seasonally themed model is available every time. Models are not for sale and cannot be purchased. One free model per child. Quantities are limited to approximately 250 per store and offer is good while supplies last.
  • LEGO Club Meetings - Meet other members for fun and play, with themed building activities occurring one hour prior to the store opening on select Saturdays during the month. Availability varies by store and pre-registration is required. Space is limited to 25 children per meeting.
