Shalom Sesame Dance Party with Grover Launches New 22 Clips #ShalomSesame

One of the things I love about Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, is that they produce fun content for children of all cultures. For children with Jewish heritage, Sesame Workshop has launched a new Shalom Sesame series of 22, two-minute clips.

During a dance party, we had the chance to preview a few episodes of the Shalom Sesame and really enjoyed them. We also hung out with Grover who was dressed in a disco outfit. Grover helped get the children dancing, exercising and filled with giggles. It was a fun morning and great way to celebrate the release of the series.

Shalom Sesame features an animated disco-dancing Grover as he highlights a Hebrew letter along with four Hebrew vocabulary words starting with that letter. Shalom Sesame is a multimedia project for children ages 2-8 that is designed to engage families across the spectrum of observance and identity with content surrounding Israeli and Jewish heritage and celebrations.

You can watch the segments on www.shalomsesame.org and on the Shalom Sesame YouTube channel.

  11. I love Sesame Street for covering as many cultures and groups as they can! This looks like it might be a great way to even introduce non Jewish children to help them understand a little bit about the Hebrew and Isreali traditions and background.
