Adding "Being Sick" To My To-Do-List?

As I lay in bed achy and tired once again, I get the thought of adding "being sick" to my never ending to-do-list. Ironically during the winter I didn't catch the flu or any severe cold. But for some reason since the start of the New Year, I've literally been laid out by random colds and sniffles. Literally.

sick in bed

Getting sick these days usually means about 2-3 days of downtime. Literally. Once the coughing, sneezing or whatever form of sickness starts, I lose my energy and ability to think past a few actions. Usually those action involve basic care for my son. But anything beyond that? No energy for.

Honestly I'm a bit perplexed.

I've been sick before and able to "push" on with tackling tasks. It what so many of us do. Just keep going and get things done no matter what right?

But at some point that does take a toll on our bodies. And for a long while my body has been warning me the toll is getting to high to keep paying. Remember that one time I passed out.....

So what to do?

I think it's time that I revisit my schedule again. I started to the beginning of last year and it was helping but then I fell back into my bad blogger ways of working long hours, not eating healthy and very little rest.

And dealing with the latest round of knock me out sickness is part of the result.

So now that I'm starting to feel better, I can either add "being sick" to my to-do-list or I can go back to making changes in my life so I can rest and be more healthy.

I think we'd all agree that my to-do-list doesn't need more added to it.

Are you adding or taking away more from your to-do-list. Is it keeping you healthy or sick?

  1. Are you taking some vitamins? They always help me. I usually get sick if I don't take them.

  12. Ugh, I hate being sick, too! My daughter and I have been drinking a cup of hot green tea with honey every single morning this winter. We didn't get sick all winter (until she had a 24 hour cold last week), so I really think it helped!

  16. I don't like being truly sick. But I generally just keep going, because I'll only wind up with more to do if I do nothing just because I'm under the weather.

  31. I notice when I start getting sick like that it means that I'm doing too much -either too stressed, too busy, or not enough sleep. So once I change that and add some vitamins I am good to go!

  32. I have been lucky not to have gotten too terribly sick through the winter months, but now that spring is here my allergies are going nuts. Some good daily allergy meds have helped, but you're right- a too-busy schedule means little sleep, and that's not good for anyone. I've cut back significantly on blogging and that has made a huge difference. Thankfully for me it's not a source of income, otherwise that might get a bit interesting trying to juggle.
Hope you get to feeling better soon! <3
