Recently Nintendo hosting a special preview event for two new games launching soon on the Nintendo 3DS/2DS system: Yoshi’s New Island and Disney Magical World.

Note: I was invited as media to this event and received a gift bag. No other compensation was received. Any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.

During the event there was game trivia questions for the kids and a raffle for a 3DXL. Guess who won? I think I was more excited then my son to win the console. Last year we lost our 3DS while at an event and we've really missed it. But the gaming gods have smiled on us and we now have a replacement.

After learning the back story and features of the two new games, the families were invited to enjoy some playtime. Our first thoughts on the games?

Nintendo Yoshi’s New Island and Disney Magical World

Like many parents, I grew up playing a variety of games that featured the adorable dino Yoshi. So I was excited to see this new game and what fun powers Yoshi was infused with. My son just wanted to play with the fun dino.

Yoshi’s New Island is super fun (and cute). It's a great game for kids of all ages.

In the game you help guide Yoshi through different 6 worlds getting collectibles, finding new paths and secrets with the Mega Eggdozer, reuniting Baby Mario with his kidnapped brother

Yoshi’s New Island also features helpful items like the Flutter Wings, which let Yoshi fly through the air. This item is great for players who have trouble completing a level, and ensures that all skill levels can enjoy the game.

The Yoshi’s New Island game is available March 14, 2014 for $39.99 (SRP).
