Taking THE LEGO MOVIE Build Challenge #LEGOMovieChallenge

Since my son is so looking forward to seeing The LEGO® MOVIE, I thought it would be fun to join in some activities leading up to the movie release in theaters on February 7, 2014.

Building The LEGO Movie Melting Room Set

Note: Warner Bros. provided The LEGO® Movie Melting Room set as part of the THE LEGO MOVIE Build Challenge. No other compensation was received. Any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.

Recently we accepted Warner Bros. Pictures "THE LEGO MOVIE Build Challenge" to build a creation tied to THE LEGO MOVIE in 1 week or less. My son and I have been "building" since he was old enough to put to LEGO pieces together. So you know we were so ready!

Building The LEGO Movie Melting Room Set

This week we received our package including a The LEGO Movie Melting Room Set and character poster from the movie. Our poster featured Lord Business who is voiced by Will Ferrell. Since I'm a total Will Ferrell fan, I was glee over getting the poster.

As I was grinning at the poster, my son was busy trying to open the box. He was ready! We then sorted the pieces so we can follow the instructions.

While I put the pieces for the "melting room" together, my son put together the LEGO figures of Emmet, Wyldstyle and a Robo SWAT. Then he took them off on their own mini adventure. LOL

After the mini adventure my son helped me complete the first step of The LEGO Movie Melting Room set. We still have a lot to do but getting there is half the fun.

Stay tuned to see how far we get during our next building session. This week I'll share updates on the blog and via social media using the hashtag #LEGOMovieChallenge

SYNOPSIS

This original 3D computer-animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepare

Directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (“21 Jump Street,” “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”), it stars Chris Pratt, Will Ferrell, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie and Charlie Day, with Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman.

  1. That looks like a great set! My boys are both SO into Legos, too. We have a ginormous bin of them that is almost always out!

We started seeing preview for this movie last summer and they both have been talking about it ever since :)

  2. Heavens-Lego's have been around forever it seems and I have yet to find a child who is not happily involved making things for hours with them. Of course I remember when Leg's were just squares or rectangles--now they are so much more!

  3. Legos have become so popular, it seems thats all kids want to do. My Hubs helps our Grandson build them sometimes. Not sure which one likes them more.

  4. My son is really looking forward to this movie. Great job on your challenge! I'm usually the one who puts the kits together. My son loves free-play with Legos and creates some cool stuff, but when it comes to following directions, I'm the one on the floor for hours screaming "we're missing a piece!" only to find it stuck under the dog's butt. Despite that, we do still love LEGOs.

  5. Legos are so fun, but dangerous in our house because we have a dog who likes to run off with them.
