Completing The LEGO Movie Build Challenge #LEGOMovieChallenge

This weekend we saw THE LEGO® MOVIE and was blown away with both the movie and seeing all the things you can build using LEGOs. My son left the theater talking about being a master builder and asking if we could finish building our set.

Note: Warner Bros. provided The LEGO® Movie Melting Room set as part of the THE LEGO MOVIE Build Challenge. No other compensation was received. Any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.

I confess I was hoping to drag building our set out a bit. I enjoyed the mom and son team building. But after seeing the movie, my son didn't want to wait anymore. And so this week we got right into building the last pieces to complete the set

The LEGO Movie Build Challenge for the Melting Room Set

At first there was a mini struggle because my son wanted to do everything himself. As far as he was concerned he could "read" the instructions so no need for my help. But I explained I wanted to help and he should share. LOL.

Plus he really did need my help to finish the last few pieces. A lot of them required assembling with many tiny parts.

So we formed a team. I would start the building and then pass along to him to add the finishing pieces.

Truth be told a few times he was able to put the pieces together with minimal help from me. It was fun to watch.

Soon we had the different parts completed and it was time to attach things and see the finished set. To get ready for the final reveal my son wore his Emmet shirt and posed with the mini figure. The t-shirt was really cute and I was disappointed there wasn't one in an adult size, I would have enjoyed wearing the Wyldstyle t-shirt!

As I got ready for the final reveal, my son went to check that we had done everything. I'm not kidding. He looked through the book and everything!

Finally satisfied we had everything in order, we took the final photos of our completed set. Isn't our set just awesome?!

I'm really proud of the team work we did this week. Thanks to Warner Bros and LEGO for allowing us to be part of the THE LEGO MOVIE Build Challenge. I'm glad we finished in time for the movie release!

Today February 7, 2014, The LEGO® MOVIE has been released in theaters. Make sure to get your tickets to see the movie this weekend. We did and LOVED it. I know your family will also!

  1. A far cry from the original legos that I used to help my friends son with! They did not have mini figures back the--just the blocks! This looks like great fun. I won't be seeing the movie (no more little people around me) but I am certain that all kids would love it.
