Visiting Boston with the Verizon Wireless Team

Last year I had the chance to visit Boston with some of my #VZWBuzz teammates thanks to Verizon. It was a fun trip filled with tech talk and Verizon product preview. But the trip also had a bit of a sentimental feel.

Note: I was invited as media and a Verizon Wireless #VZWBuzz lifestyle blogger to this event. Travel and hotel accommodations was provided for by Verizon Wireless. No other compensation was received. Any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.

In early 2013 the Boston Marathon bombings happened. It was such a horrific event that nationwide we worried for the Boston area. With things in such a panic state and phones down how did some of the Boston officials stay on top of things? With Social media!

U.S. Attorney's Office District of Massachusetts

The team heard from a representative from the U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Massachusetts, about how they used social media during the Boston bombing to keep the public informed and share information about hospital status, etc. They were able to do keep up with demand by being on the Verizon network. What an amazing way to use social media during such a large crisis.

We all agreed that social media is a useful tool. And it's nice to have tools so you can use social media. Which lead into our next guest John from Samsung Mobile US who demoed the new Galaxy Note 3.

The Galaxy Note 3 has many cools apps like the Scrapbooker which allows you to collect any data types (pics, files, video) into ONE space on your phone. But I think one of my favorite features is the "Glue" mode that you can use with the Galaxy Note 3 dual camera/video! I started having all sorts of ideas for vlogging already!

Next product we learned about was the new Nokia 2520, which is the brands first Windows tablet. It looked awesome in red and offers a lot including micro & HDMI ports. Of course I had to get a closer look.

As you can see the Nokia 2520 Windows Tablet is not small. But it has a great interface and docks very nicely with the optional keyboard cover.

Our final device preview was with the Motorola trio: Mini, Max, & Ultra, which are exclusively available at Verizon Wireless. One of the cool features of the Motorola droid phones? ZAP! The ability to transfer files to other people within 300ft radius. Makes sharing so easy.

While these were the 3 main devices we got a chance to preview and get some hands on time with, Verizon Wireless has tons of different devices of interest to families. From devices for your kids to devices for your home.

We ended our day with Friday #VZWBuzz chat. It was great fun to join in with my team in real life. there's nothing like feeling the energy in a room full of people who love technology and social media.
