WHEN: Thursday, June 6
TIME: 10:30am – 3:30pm
WHERE: Brooklyn Public Library’s Central Library, Grand Army Plaza
(In the event of rain, activities will be moved inside to Brooklyn Public Library’s Dweck Center)

The cast of SPIDER-MAN will conduct a performance and a reading and take event-memento photos with kids in attendance. All day there will be guided activities by the Library’s top librarians along with face painting, balloon sculptures, musical performances and readings.

In addition, families will have the opportunity to pick up summer reading materials including new library cards.

According to research, it’s estimated that summer breaks will cause the average student to lose up to one month of instruction (also known as “summer slide”), with disadvantaged students being disproportionately affected. The research demonstrates the critical importance that the early development of summer reading habits can play in providing the foundation for later success.

Additionally, Thursday, June 6 is also known as Brooklyn/Queens Day and all public schools are closed.
