The Croods Movie Review, Video Game Preview & Screening Tickets Offer #TheCroods

Recently my son and I attended an advance screening of DreamWorks Animation’s The Croods.

DreamWorks Animation’s The Croods movie

I've been watching The Croods Movie trailers for weeks now and was excited to see the movie. The idea of a "modern" prehistoric family seemed like a fresh idea and I wondered how the story line would play out. It helped that the movie had adorable characters like Belt the Sloth, that says the catchy phrases Dun Dun Daaa!

So how did we like the movie? WE LOVED IT! I mean we really did. I can't tell you so much about the movie since it will be released in theaters soon but it's a great family movie. A few (general) key points about the movie that made it worth while for us included The Croods:

  • ....is based on a family that stayed together through various hardships
  • .....was funny. I mean really funny with appropriate humor for both kids and adults
  • .....is filled with adventure that kids will enjoy and get sucked into
  • .....is filled with tons of beautifully awesome graphics, background scenes and colorful animal characters.

I have to give kudos to the creators for animals in The Croods. While my son favorite is Belt the Sloth, I have a special place in my heart for the Macawnivore, a blue and green saber tooth lion who tries to eat The Croods. Your probably wondering why I would like an animal who wants to eat the family. Well if you go see the movie you'll see what happens at the end. I bet you'll like the Macawnivore also!

There's much more to say about The Croods movie but I don't want to give it all away. Instead I encourage you to go see the movie yourself by attending an advance screening of The Croods this weekend!

Just a FYI, to get passes to The Croods screening (click here), you'll have to have a Gofobo account but it’s free and really easy and quick to create one. Also, seating at the screening is not guaranteed since it's on a first come, first serve basis. So make sure to get there with your printed pass earlier!

About The Croods

The Croods, in theaters in 3D on March 2013, tells the story of the world’s first family road trip. When their cave is destroyed, the Crood family must embark on a comedy adventure into strange and spectacular territory in search of a new home. As if patriarch Grug didn't already have enough to handle, it goes from bad to worse when they encounter an imaginative nomad named Guy. With Guy's help the Croods conquer their fear of the outside world and discover that they have exactly what it takes to survive – each other.

Written and directed by Academy-Award nominee Chris Sanders ("Lilo & Stitch", the upcoming "How to Train Your Dragon") and Kirk DeMicco ("Space Chimps") based on a screenplay originally developed by John Cleese & Kirk DeMicco and produced by Kristine Belson & Jane Hartwell.

Once you see the movie, then get ready to play the The Croods: Prehistoric Party!, the family fun video game featuring the Croods – Grug, Ugga, Eep, Thunk, Sandy, Gran and Guy – on a hilarious adventure through 30 unique, fun and addictive party-style mini-games.

A few weeks ago I was invited to learn more and preview the game. Since this was before the movie, I wasn't sure how all the game world related but I didn't care. Playing the game was so much fun! Now that I've seem the movie, I can see how the games relate to the movie scenes. Even more fun!

A few thing I liked about the game included

  • Being able to play as your favorite Croods character including: Grug, Ugga, Eep, Thunk, Sandy, Gran, and Guy.
  • That you can challenge family or friends in one of the 30 mini-games like boxing with “punch monkeys”, egg football, rock bowling, and more! Makes for fun and quick game play
  • Collectibles and game extras where you can earn bonus items like colorful eggs, shells, and prehistoric points to unlock artwork and mini-games.

The game offers a great tie in to the movie since it's about being active, having fun and doing things as a family. The game graphic and back ground art are pretty awesome also since its on par with the movie animation and backgrounds. I highly recommend!

The Croods: Prehistoric Party is available for the following gaming system: Wii U ($39.95), Wii, Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo DS ($29.95) on March 19, 2013

Note: I received tickets to The Croods movie for review purposes. I was invited as media to preview The Croods: Prehistoric Party video game and received plush toys as a thank you. No other compensation was received. Views expressed are always 100% my own.
