Lionel Trains Pennsylvania Flyer

A few years ago I wrote about our visit to Lionel Trains Pop-Up Store and all different toy trains and collectibles available for train lovers start or build their collections.

Lionel Train Set Giveaway

During my tour I noticed how model railroading can be a great family activity. With Father’s Day, I think many dads would enjoy this interactive family fun.

Did you know that Joshua Lionel Cowen, cofounder of Lionel Trains, recognized the family value of his trains and promoted the father-son relationship heavily. But he didn't stop there. In the 1950’s, he launched the famous Lionel Girl’s Set to expand the market to the daughters as well. Model trains are a true family hobby!

Over the years I've watched my son (and other children) play with trains and can really see that trains can be more then just just toys. These trains offer children a fun way to explore their worlds, expand their imaginations and learn new skills. And if you're a parent like me who joins your child in play, these train adventure moments are important opportunities to interact together and grow through cooperative play.

  9. I love trains because when I was 7 I went on vacation with my grandparents and cousins to ride a train. He died a year later so I always remember that last trip together and have a love of trains because of it. My dad actually took both of my boys to ride the same train last year, so trains are very sentimental for us :D
    Thank you for the giveaway!

  13. For my husband's 50th birthday, my son and I got together and gave him the beginnings of a new hobby - a train set he has wanted for almost all 50 of those years! My son and I figured it would give him great pleasure and give me a new hobby with him now that we are empty nesters. Our daughter has helped add to the fun as well. Since his birthday, he has researched and finally come up with a layout we will start building after our daughter's wedding - when her room will be empty.
