R Baby Foundation Food & Wine Gala Celebrates Saving Babies Lives #RBabyMoms

This week I attended the R Baby Food and Wine Gala. As a R Baby Mom I was honored to join in the celebration of what the R Baby Foundation has been able to accomplish these last 5 years and in recent weeks through their RBabyMoms PSA and online petition.

As I walked around the Gala my heart was filled to have been invited to be a part of everything. It was exciting to see my name included on the R Baby Ambassador sign. As I looked at all the name who joined in to raise awareness, I thought this was something to truly celebrate and continued my walk around the Gala

The place was packed with people who came out in support. At different station you could enjoy different tasty bits and grab a glass of wine or other adult drink

But this Gala also had an educational feature. In one of the room you could learn about the different type of emergency equipment available to treat a young child. The R Baby Foundation works with Doctors and hospitals for emergency care training programs to save babies lives.

Soon it was time to take my seat for the presentation and award portion of the evening. Founder Phyllis shared her story of losing her daughter Rebecca at 9 days old because of a misdiagnosed as having a common cold, instead of enteroviral infection. Rebecca life could have saved.

Phyllis explained that babies are not mini-adults. They require specialized medical training and equipment. Babies within the first 28 days of life are twice as likely to die as older children. Babies show symptoms differently of the same virus then and older child so rapid, correct diagnosis and immediate treatment are imperative. Emergency Room doctors must be properly trained and confident while treating infants; every minute can make the difference between a life or death outcome.

The R Baby Foundation has been working hard to raise awareness for parents, doctors and hospital centers who need to learn more about pediatric emergency care. Helping R Baby is Julia Beck, of Forty Weeks who received the RBaby Champion Award for her work with the Foundation.

As I listened to different speech each passionate about improving supporting R Baby foundation vision of pediatric emergency care, I was glad to know these women and call them friend in the blogging world. Through actions and organization like these we use our voices in a powerful way for change. Change which can save your babies life.
