Last week I attended the Discovery Communications' 2012-13 Upfront and had a blast.
This is my 2nd year being there but really my first staying for the after party. That after party was amazing. I saw so many stars. But before I gush about the after party and me rubbing elbows with celebrities let me tell you about the Discovery Upfront programming preview.
The Discovery Upfront programming preview started with a little Irish dance routine. Which introduced us to Irish Dancing Series. This one-hour special and eight-part series gives viewers a look behind the scenes of the world of competitive Irish dance.
Then the stars started coming out to introduce their new shows. A few shows (and stars) that caught my attention included:
Leave It to Niecy takes viewers into the couple's home, which includes her three kids and her opinionated mother. Together, they balance work, life, and love to create a modern blended family.
Supernanny, Jo Frost, is back to work fixing troubled families. She’s already tamed screaming toddlers, and now she’s tackling some of America’s toughest families and modern parenting challenges.
Hosted by soap opera legend Susan Lucci, Deadly Affairs proves that love triangles happen in real life and, sometimes, are even stranger than fiction.
Road to Lemans follows Patrick Dempsey as he serves as both owner and driver for an auto racing team tackling the legendary 24 Hours of LeMans—the world’s oldest automotive endurance race.
Our America with Lisa Ling will continue to tackle topics from drug addiction and religious movements to sex offenders and online brides. Journalist Lisa Ling, will continue to take an in-depth look at some difficult and thought-provoking issues in the U.S.
“Six Little McGhees” follows the inspirational lives of Mia and Rozonno McGhee (blessed with Columbus, Ohio's first sextuplets) as they juggle marriage, a family business, and six adorable toddlers!
Rising above their impoverished roots, Mia and Ro, with an unconventional army of volunteers, want to prove that with a lot of love and a little support, anyone can beat the odds. Produced by Candor Entertainment, in conjunction with Discovery Fit & Health and OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.
Speaking of OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network., I nearly dropped out my seat when Oprah herself came on stage to talk about the show and how it's been running her network this past year. Her words were very touching and deserves it own separate post. Look out for that post later this week.
For now if you want to know more about the new and returning series coming to the networks, read the Discovery Networks Make News with 2012-13 Upfront in NYC post.
In the next post I'll talk about the after party and the stars I rubbed elbows with.
