Taking a "Mom & Son" Day at LEGO Store & Rockefeller Center

You know how you can take a personal day at work? Well this week on Thursday I heard the weather will be near 60 degrees, so I decided that a "day" of some sort needed to be taken. So I decided my son would skip daycare, he's on winter break from preschool anyway, and we'd enjoy a "Mom and Son" day.

Mom and Son Day

As far as I know there's no official "Mom and Son" day but I think there needs to be one. What should a mom and son do on this day? I say anything they want. It's their day!

We headed to the Rockefeller Center area, since we had an event in the area later in the day. My son has been there before but every time he visit it's like the first time. He's amazed by all the activities and loves seeing the statues. We stopped and posed for a photo before just walking around and people watching.

Then we headed over to the LEGO store. Can you believe we've never been inside?

Once inside we had fun making mini Lego people and checking out the displays.

My son fell in love with train/subway display. I tried to find it so we could get it but no luck. My son refused so leave the store until I promised, we'll visit the store again on a less crowded day to find it. Goodness!

Then we headed over to Radio City Music Hall for the Stage Door Tour. It was fun watching my son tour around and take in the sights.

At the end when he took a photo with a Rockette, he became so shy. Normally my son is outgoing and quick to greet people with a hello and hug. This super friendliness drives me crazy. But it seems as he grows older, he's growing out of it and a bit more cautious of strangers.

As we headed out and headed back home, my son was skipping around and happy. Right now he's only 3 and doing simple things like this makes him happy. He might not remember all the things he did, saw, or heard today but he'll remember spending time with his "Mommy".

For me that makes taking these "Mom and Son" day worth it!

When was the last time you took a "Mom and Child" Day?

  1. We love the Lego Store - too much fun. I feel like my daughter and I don't really have a day to ourselves but mostly snippets of days. I will have to plan an entire day sometime.

  2. How cute! I love the pictures. Rock is also getting more cautious of strangers. Our little men are growing up. I have not taken a "Mom and boys" day but I should plan one when days get warmer.

  3. He's so adorable! My family would have a blast at the Lego Store. Too bad we don't live in your area. My kids would love an individual day to themselves with the hubs or myself. I'm thinking we should make this happen!
