J&R Jr Launch Event Hosted by Momtrends & Kidzvuz

When I was invited by Momtrends and Kidzvuz to preview J&R's new "Junior" store section, I couldn't believe it. Like most electronic/ technology junkie I knew the store well. It was a "no touching" kid zone. But the invite said families attending the event would enjoy a “kidstravaganza” amount of family-friendly acts and events.

Once I reached the store, I saw nothing different. Then I was directed to the 2nd floor where the event was happening. THEN I saw it. The whole floor had been totally redesigned and stocked with families and kids products.

For the families with little one attending the preview, there was entertainment in the form of A Princess Visit (Storytelling), The Amazing Max (Magic Man) and various arts and crafts.

My son and I enjoyed visiting the different booths around the store. Each booth had a product that can be found at J&R Jr. Being a techie child my son loved hanging around at the HP printer table. The HP guy was nice enough to printed out coloring sheets for my son.

At the next table my son "helped" me make paper flowers. The kits are awesome and include everything you need. The paper flower making instructions are simple and easy to follow. Great project ideas for families

At the next table my son enjoyed drawing and coloring different animals.

Then we tried heading over to gaming section but got side tracked by the train table. My son enjoyed playing with the other kids while I eyed the kids gaming areas.

Finally, we made into the gaming area and were able to enjoy some of the games. So Happy!

During my mini tour of J&R Jr new sections I confess as a parent fell in love (again) with the store. J&R Jr aims to cater initially to age range of 0-9 years, and will carry hundreds of items. A short list includes:
  • strollers; high chairs; car seats; activity centers; bags; feeding, potty, and safety accessories;
  • children's music/movies/games;
  • kid-sized musical instruments;
  • kids’ electronics-- such as baby monitors, humidifiers, kids’ cameras, noise limiting headphones, kid-friendly laptops, and iPads, Nanos as well as video games for the bigger kids.
In addition to a range of products, J&R Jr. will also offer a living community experience. J&R Jr.'s state-of-the-art events space will feature weekly free performances by kids’ acts such as “Rockin’ with Andy” as well as parenting seminars and luncheons on a variety of topics from to birthing to school admissions, photography tips and more.

Five days a week, the events space will be run by MoonSoup, a well-known early child development programming provider who will be offering arts & crafts workshops, hands-on music lessons, yoga classes, etc.

Are you loving the new J&R Jr. as much as I do? Then plan a visit!

What a big, big, BIG difference from the J&R store I remember from my youth! Like you I recall a store that was NOT kid-friendly, I love how its changed. I especially like that they will have MoonSoup there to entertain kids. This will give parents time to look around and choose items that their children will really use and enjoy, instead of something that will be tossed to the side. Thanks Nikki for the review! Loved the photos :)
