I first met Melissa at the 2nd Bread Art Project event and remembered how she spoke about the importance of a healthy well-balanced diet for families. Not only was I was excited to meet her again, also this time I had the chance to watch her cook!

As we gathered around her, Melissa started cooking AND sharing families food advice. Melissa explained how easy it was to swap in healthy food options into family dinners. Some of her tips included
  • Learn how to measuring out ingredients. Start with measuring spoons, etc so you can see how much you really using to make a meal.
  • Keep a bag of frozen peas in your home. Frozen peas offer many used in a meal. They can be a side vegetable or a filler for meal.
  • Use whole grains pastas. They provide great texture as well as nutritional value.

Also at the event was Samantha Cassetty, Good Housekeeping Nutrition Director, who sadly broke the news to me that Yes, it does take about 15 tries over many months to get a child to finally eat something they keep refusing. Like my son and his vegetables. While that was bitter sweet news to hear, at least there's hope. LOL
