Huddle to Fight Hunger with Football Food & Fun

Kraft Foods is kicking-off its Huddle to Fight Hunger campaign during a special "tailgate" event near Herald Square on Wednesday, September 8, with football legend Joe Montana, sportscaster Erin Andrews and chefs Pat and Gina Neely. The program, which is Kraft Foods’ largest branded hunger relief program ever executed in the United States, is designed to achieve a significant goal: give 20 million meals or more to Feeding America in 2010.

The Huddle to Fight Hunger kickoff event:
Time: From 10am - 4pm on September 8
Location: The Pedestrian Walkway on Broadway in NYC between 34th and 35th Street.

New Yorkers can also register for the chance to win a trip to the first-ever Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl. The game, which will be hosted at San Francisco’s AT&T Park on Sunday, January 9, 2011, will feature teams from the PAC-10 and WAC and will be broadcast live on ESPN.

Everyone can JOIN the HUDDLE to FIGHT HUNGER
  • At the event event attendees will help to generate the number of meals given away. How? By participating in interactive games, celebrity contests, cooking demonstrations, and much more.
  • Everyone can text the word “MEALS” and their zip code to 71717 – Kraft Foods will make a one meal donation to their local food bank for each text.
  • Redeem Huddle to Fight Hunger coupons that will be available in newspapers nationwide, as well as online September 26, 2010. For every coupon redeemed, Kraft Foods will donate one additional meal to Feeding America.
Helping New Yorkers

According to the Food Bank of New York City, in NYC, one of the richest cities in the world, food poverty is around every corner. Throughout the five boroughs, approximately 1.4 million people — largely comprised of women, children, seniors, the working poor and people with disabilities — rely on soup kitchens and food pantries. In addition, the number of New Yorkers experiencing difficulty affording food for themselves and their families has increased by 60 percent to approximately 3.3 million since 2003. Meals raised at this event will go to benefit local food banks in NYC.

Helping America’s poor

Hunger remains a serious issue in the United States. In fact, 49.1 million Americans, or one in six of our neighbors, don’t always know where their next meal will come from. Leading the fight against hunger is Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger relief agency. Through their network of more than 200 food banks and 61,000 agency partners, Feeding America provides meals to more than 37 million Americans annually.
