Simple Ways to Eat Organic and Healthy

Eating healthy is one of the top 5 promises people tend to make for the New Year. But somehow within the first 3 months most of us tend to slack off and by the mid year we're back to our old unhealthy ways of eating.

I think many feel it's just a lot of work to make major changes in their eating habits. We all know we need to eat more organic and add foods rich in antioxidant to our diet but who has the time and energy. Oddly enough it's simple changes to our diets that can keep us on the road to eating more healthy. During the holiday season I started switching my normal foods and drinks with more organic options.

The first switch was in the bread area. Since I use alot of bread during breakfast and lunch this was a good starting point. I tested out the French Meadow Bakery bread since they're made with all-natural and organic ingredients. Their breads come in a range of styles including a "Woman's Bread". Plus the company is certified organic in so many ways.

The result? It tasted just like bread. LOL. From making toast to sandwiches nothing different. The taste and texture are no different then non-organic breads but over time my body could benefit from yeast-free baking, which is easier for the body to digest. So in the bread area the switch was smooth.

The next area was beverages. I heard alot about Steaz Iced Teaz line of organic green tea that came blended with Peach, Blueberry Pomegranate Acai and White Tea with Lime & Pomegranate flavors. I also learned a cool thing about their packaging. Steaz was the first beverage line to feature the photographs farmers from Sri Lanka, China, and Africa, where Steaz sources their ingredients, on the front of every can.

The result? I enjoyed Steaz alot. The general taste of all the ice teas was very light. Even the Green Tea and Blueberry Pomegranate Acai wasn't strong. The teas are also not very sweet. That surprised me since a lot of ice teas seems extra sweeten in some form. It was a nice change from my usual ice teas. They have a buy one get one free coupon so you can try Steaz also

The other beverage I tested out was POM Wonderful pomegranate juice. Most people are already familiar with the benefits of drinking pomegranate juice but POM Wonderful is 100% pure pomegranate juice with no added sugars, preservatives, or filler juices. POM Wonderful orchards are located in California who they can control the quality step by step.

My thoughts? Well, for me the taste of POM Wonderful was a bit on the strong and thick side. It's like it's concentrated. It's not a bad thing just not what I'm use to. I'm not a fan of strong taste but I am a fan of multi purpose uses for something. Besides being drinkable POM Wonderful can be used to cook with! Yup that's right. From appetizers, soups, dinners and desserts there's a POM Wonderful recipesyou can use to get the same healthy benefits. That's pretty impressive!

The final area was snacking. Like most people I love my snacks even if they're a bit unhealthy. Snacks are rewards after a stressful day or when I need to feed my sweet cravings. Most healhty snacks tend to be plain tasting and boring so I wasn't very happy to test out in this area. LOL. ZenSoy made me happy I was brave enough to try a healthy snack!

Made with only organic soy ingredients, it's a good for you snack. Just like non-organic pudding ZenSoy was rich and creamy tasting. I couldn't tell any differences. A plus is that the company donates a percentage of profits to help protect the giant pandas. So just think snacking on ZenSoy is helping save the pandas. How any other snacks can say that! =)

So you see finding simple and easy ways to start eating healthy isn't as hard as you think. Start small and you can gain big health benefits in the long run.
